Unai Emery

Unai Emery is widely regarded as one of the best young managers in Europe, are people seriously turning their noses up at the prospect of him being our manager?

Jesus wept!
Obviously people are going to have their favourites (some even want moyes back in the poll) but every managerial appointment comes with an element of risk. However imo anyway, emery ticks so many boxes, firstly he is a winner, secondly he gets the best out of players and thirdly he is able to spot young talent and develop it. Look at his net transfer spend. Really don't know what some supporters want.

If you are referring to me I am just having a forum discussion. Not turning my nose up...just having a few reservations that require attending to.

Pellegrini = Easy option...
Koeman = Dutch Moyes average manager
Emery = Spanish Moyes %boring football
FDM = Ambitious
Cocu = Very innovative
Simeone = Phenomenal

Hopefully if not the 3 i like David Dein recommends someone from left field.

I'm fairly sure the Spanish Moyes was actually David Moyes.

Comparing a three time Europa League winner to the ginger Scot who is allergic to winning is laughable.

No, only once actually. Sevilla finished 3rd in a group with Man City, Juventus and Borussia Mönchengladbach in the most recent season.

I see, didnt realise that so the previous 2 seasons they didnt even get into the champs league (if they hadnt won this season they would be in liverpools position right)....magnificent 7th.

You mean monchis net spend....not emerys.

Which young players has he developed?Alba, Rico....?

Well, 'not getting in the CL' isn't exactly underachieving for Sevilla, Zat.

Emery is a good manager, and he doesn't play boring football.

However, the idea that some have that he plays 'exciting' football all the time is also false - he does tend to be a bit too conservative at times.

Similar style of play.

They're not really either Zat.

Emery is definitely more akin to Moyes than Koeman is, but that's about it, and the reason for that, as I stated in my previous post, is due to his tendency to be a bit too conservative. But there's no 'underdog mentality' with Emery.

The fella is 44 years old mate, a spring chicken in the managerial game he's still learning.

You have to factor in also what he's had to deal with at those clubs you've listed. Valencia he had to pick up the mess that Koeman had left and crikey it was some mess!

The negative net spend he's had to deal with at Sevilla has also been well documented.

He's done a staggering job at Sevilla all things told.

Winning the EL three years on the spin ain't bad either like.

He's never been lucky enough so far to be give a fighting chance of real top league finishes due to firefighting, let's see what he can do with substantial funds at his disposal for the first time in his short managerial career

To be fair he had a damn good side at valencia, just koeman was a disaster.

Like most Managers, his style reflects the opposition/type of game.

His tactics wont be the same against Real/Barca/Atletico as they would be against lets say Getafe and Levante. Likewise in Cup Finals etc. He'll be conservative in some games, whilst being more open in others.
