Haha his most expensive signing is Kone.

I don't want this fraud near our club.

Even better Mooms - he will remember the utter soul destroying humiliation of watching Kone be his most expensive signing and will probably have it front and centre of the negotiations that young Aroune is blasted out of a cannon before he arrives.

This is the man who has been viewed as being the saviour if sevilla over the years, their sporting director referred to as Monchi

Legit.

'Inside, Monchi explains: “Sixteen people cover a series of leagues. For the first five months we watch a lot of football but with no particular aim: we’re just accumulating data. Every month we produce an ideal XI for each league. Then in December we start watching players who appeared regularly in different contexts – home, away, international – to build the broadest possible profile.”

I rate that

Impressive indeed. I wonder what their scouting would have made of our £13.5m 'scoop' of Mr Niasse?

You'll like this then too!

Monchi pulls out his phone and, carefully reducing the image so the names can’t be seen, says: “That gives us this.” A colour-coded spreadsheet shows players by position. Around 250 potential targets, in all positions. “The manager says: ‘I want a left-back who averages 11km a game, runs 800m at full speed, uses both feet.’ And from these, 10 will fit.”

Arouna Koné was our most expensive signing and scored two in 41; he goes to Levante, a ‘weaker’ team, and scores 17.”

....

Might give an indication!

The DoF should ideally have a role in the recruitment of the manager. The problems arise when a DoF is parachuted in above a manager who's already there.

Yep, while we are all gagging for the appointment of the new manager, it would be useful to have the DoF in place first so that the new manager is comfortable with his specific job role and personality.

He has done everything he realistically can do there so its not out of the question.

Plus,if Martinez was the 15th highest paid manager or something in Europe in the pre Moshiri era,Im sure the financial package on offer to him now will be very tempting for him.

If we believe the Mourinho stories,it didn't sound like his wage demands that was the sticking point.

We do actually have an extremely impressive and similar system that was set in place by Moyes. RM didn't change that aspect.

I was wondering about that, glad it's still in place.

There was an article about it last season (2014-15) I believe, but can't remember exactly.

Moyes had it set in place and though he may have made a few tweaks, RM kept the basics the same and it's how the club operates.

There's bound to be some Niasses or Kroldrups, but then you get the Artetas and Pienaars.
