I actually like our 1882 lot. They sort of keep everyone happy because they dont really do first team games (apart fron Europa which no-one else wants to attend!) but do mostly U18/U21 matches. Plus it gives the 16-30yr old Yids a chance to go to matches, stand up & have a laugh with their mates for no-more than a fiver.

They have a vast repetoire of songs which you generally dont hear at WHL & come up with lots of sponatneous & funny stuff.

The youth players love it when they are there - they generally play in slience.

Im definitely in favour.

Wouldn't mind a bit of singing at the U18/21 games at Goodison, nothing OTT like. The crowd does get behind the lads, and get on the referee's back occasionally, but it'd be ace to give them some proper match-day atmosphere.

I was at the Youth game vs Fulham on Thur where 1882 turned up. Great fun. They have 5-6 different songs for Harry Kane alone. Most amusing!

Football is what you want to make it

There's no manual on how to be a good fan

Just don't be a knob

Simples

I honestly think it would get more people to go to football though. I'm getting bored of going to Goodison against the likes of Fulham/WBA/Sunderland and a couple more. Obviously its great to be back at Goodison going up the steps and seeing the pitch and everything but I just can't wait to see the Palace fans tomorrow.

They had a drum. For that reason alone I can't be impressed with their support.

Do you like dortmund mate and all the german teams? as far as I am aware they have a drum.

A Palace fan writes......We do have a section of self styled ultras who have improved the atmosphere at home games no end. They are usually the fulcrum of the chanting and, to my surprise, usually manage to get singing going in every stand. They will also organise occasional pre match banner/flag displays for the whole of the Holmesdale end to participate in.
BUT, it is not spontaneous, and for me, that is the best kind of noise, instigated by matters happening on the pitch. Siege mentality type noise that you get occasionally. (Everton v Villareal in the Champions League game was such a night I remember). Sure our lot will make some noise tomorrow but an increasing number of Palace fans (mainly the younger ones) are starting to believe this "best fans in the league" baloney and I am not alone in starting to feel very uncomfortable about that.
