ULTRA STYLE IN ENGLISH SUPPORT

All this "ultra" stuff doesn't seem passionate. It just a load of people singing for the sake of it. When the gwladys is bouncing its passionate and meaningful, you can tell that it actually makes a difference to the way we play.

The Ultras abroad seem to be a lot more natural and part of the footballing culture than it does here. I love a good atmosphere but I'd be knocked sick if I was in some choreographed sing off. As has been said and said on here many a time is that goodison has a unique atmosphere in that its reactive rather then pro-active. We actually like to watch the game and get involved with it emotionally so when things start going against us we collectively loose our minds. Maybe atmosphere's could a be a little better at home but I'd not change our fans way of doing things to the way those palace fans go about it, not in a million life times.

Takes many forms, really. Ultras aren't necessarily racist (although, particularly in Italy) they undeniably are in many sections. On the whole though, the ways in which they identify themselves does to an extent, reflect Italian politics (and along with that, society).

FWIW, I love it, and can't get enough of displays, chants and the whole things. Stuff like this:

Blows me away.

Different strokes for different folks and that, of course. I understand that some don't, and that's entirely fair. I know from what has happened with Motherwell's group as well, that it can take a lot of time, effort and discipline to get to the point where they are appreciated by the rest of the fan base. With the way that the Premiership is, it would be nigh on impossible for groups to form organically in the way that they need to, which is why there's been an explosion of it in lower league football, as people have found it an easy way of getting to regular football with the fan 'experience' that they want from it. Trying to get 20-30 like minded people congregated at a terraced ground with an attendance of 150 is an absolute doddle, doing it at Goodison...

It's also why I now know all about the Essex Senior League..

You're right that's all you need, 20-30 fans, with say half a dozen of those leading it. There's space in the back corner of the Gwladys Street for it. It's such a small and do-able number that it does not matter if loads of fans do not want it. All that matters is the actions of those that do.

Have to add I prefer the singing section type to ultra

Nah I just wanna turn up at the game, scream me head off at what's goin on, join in with the occasional singing get a warm Chang and talk about the team with the random arl fella sitting next to me. Supporting Everton or going to goodison isn't about trying to immitate what other clubs do or waving flags. As someone said earlier there's nothing better than the old lady rallying against the ref and urging the team forward, how would this happen if we're in the middle of a boyzone routine. All the 'turn goodison blue' stuff before the derby was horrible, should have been turn goodison angry and don't let these ********s out with nothing more than a loss.

Because of people like you, nobody believes Everton fans are factor in England ! Everybody said Newcastle,Millwall,West Ham, United,Leeds,Palace, etc ! Open this video over your last post and watch what the innovative people do it until you only saying how bad is that... to do something different :)

Like anyone gives a [Poor language removed] what anyone other than Evertonians think lid?

Listen - were not going to the Red Star Varna beauts trying dead hard to be all dead wacky and loud. Were Everton, we know when to turn up and we always do.

I'm not going to have a go at any other blues trying things to liven things up but I sack that having a go at other blues not trying to be like some continental whoppers. Have you seen how angry our pissed up dars get? No bells have got that. Their loss.

Really appreciate your enthousiasm and dedication to the Ultra life style EB and I admit that I quite like it myself. Truth is however that Everton and Goodison Park don't need it. Don't know if you've ever been lucky enough to visit the old lady. It can be a hostile and intimidating enviroment. There's no other stadium in England where you hear the jeers, the cheers, the grouns, the shouts and the appeals as loud as at Goodison Park. Some days I can even feel the atmosphere sizzling in my living room when watching the game on television. Quite a few refs and opposition players mark Goodison as the most hostile ground they have to visit, so it can't be that bad.

As said, I quite like the Ultra stuff myself, but it's not for Everton Football Club I feel. The singing and dancing of the Crystal Palace fans or the hostile enviroment for opposition at Goodison, I know what I'd find more intimidating if I was a player of the opposing team.
