UEFA qualification / FA cup

I'd rather not go to UEFA cup on a technicality (Cardiff being Welsh) than at all. I wouldn't put all my hopes on just Pompey winning the FA cup though. Villa is rested (No Europe, early cup exits) and Cardiff has pulled some sweet goals out of their ass in their FA cup run.

still don't get it, why does pompey winning matter at all, arent' they already in europe for being runners up at worst?

As far as I know Runners-up don't go to Europe anymore.

taken from wikipedia:
As well as being presented with the cup, the winning team also qualifies by right for the first round of the UEFA Cup, unless they have already qualified for Europe when the spot goes to the runners-up or to the highest placed Premier League side without European qualification.

could be outdated though, when did you believe they changed the rule?

edit: and also, if they did change the rule, then who would get the english uefa spot should cardiff win, wouldn't it go to the next highest league finisher so we're in the same boat anyways?

Portsmout winning the FA Cup, ive heard, will qualify sixth spot for Europe. Thing is both Villa and Pompey are in the running for fift and sixth now

so what happens if cardiff wins. i understand they're getting a wildcard spot so who gets the english european spot, does it go to portsmouth or the 6th place team, either way i think we're in a good position
