I'm pretty sure it said it wouldn't mean more games, just the friendly dates as they are now would be used for the new league format.

Seems in theory a good idea, although England would soon be relegated!

On the face of it, the theory sounds ok. I'm just worried it will probably mean more injuries and burn out from international matches.
whereas, at the moment, the national managers tend to give players a bit of slack in friendlies, ie. only playing them for 45 minutes. If, for example, England are playing Belgium in a Nations League QF, the likes of Jags, Baines, Barkley, Mirallas and Lukaku may be more likely to play the full 90. That competitive element will also mean more competitive tackling and more intensity.

Sweet. Now ours players don't get to have a bit of a jog in friendlies as they're now classed as competitive. Managers won't get to change the complete 11 for nothing friendlies. Sounds fantastic.
