To get ahead in the space race they borrowed the V2 bomber engineers and scientists. And we all know who and how that lot saluted. So it is no wonder moral bankruptcy rubbed off, with the same effects being the medical persecution of those disliked by those drunk with power.

Hold on:

"The doctors used prostitutes with syphilis to infect them"

They weren't complete monsters then.

Werner Von Braun driving around the Arizona desert in a Studebaker , with a cowboy hat on .

God Bless Uncle Sam .

"Guatemalan President Alvaro Colom has accused the US of crimes against humanity."

So now people can be tried for the sin's of the father ey?

It was unethical. Immoral and disgusting. But how can Colom, who's obviously playing to a political audience claim the US is guilty of crimes against humanity?

Did the entire US nation set up death camps in Guatemala? Commit genocide?

NO. It was a small group of people who a. authorised it. b. committed it and c. knew about it .

Its them that committed the crime.

Anyone looking at this should go back to WWII and find out about what the Japanese military did in China (before going to war with the US).

Or Germany.

But are we going to still blame Japanese and Germans' today?

Sense of proportion. Get the ones guilty of the crime.

And Davek you blert. Stop with the America bashing. Its PATHETIC

That just about sums up the Final Solution and the role of the SS.

No. It doesn't Davek.

Because there was the Nuremberg Trials. Those guilty of war crimes and against humanity (that hadn't been killed or committed suicide) were found and tried.

That and the fact the US still has the death penalty. Don't assume that those who did this will escape justice.

Even 64 years on.

Oh and so you're going to say that the German's today are still guilty?

I'd say no they're not. Their history tells them alot.

Its the Japanese who refuse to teach their children - the correct history of what they did in Asia and the Pacific - that you should worry about.

The German Government has apolgised for the holocaust and continues to pay compensation to this day. Because the German Government apologised for acts commited in previous years by a German Government.

Thats now what the American Government are doing.

Of course the 2 acts are nowhere near the same but the sentiment is, although in Americas case its more just a political gesture just to keep Guatemala quiet.

My point was that it didn't need the whole of German society to orchestrate the death camps - it just required an efficient killing machine and the rest of the population to keep their heads down. I think there's a parallel to be drawn.
