2025/26 Tyler Dibling

Multiple posts today that I think are literally the first pieces of Dibling content since he signed

For a while they weren't even showing him in training pictures lol

….something I’ve regularly pointed out too, suggests to me he’s being very carefully managed. Hopefully he’s settled and they now think is the time to increase his profile, just looked much more at home at the weekend.

A refreshing change from posters saying "he's crap" and has mental issues.

Never been in doubt.
He is so good. If we get a genuinely good RB to support him and get him into 1v1s regularly he will absolutely fly.

He's the same player he was last year: one of the best in the league at going past a man, needs to figure out what to do after he's done that.

I think he knows exactly what to do as with Southampton he should have had 5 or 6 more assists but for their players being incapable of scoring.

He could have had a goal and assist vs Burnley with a bit of luck.

He seems to have the same issue as Grealish though in terms of having 2 players on him due to the full backs not supporting.

Should have been getting more minutes when Grealish & Ndiaye tired in games around 70mins and instead he'll need some matches to get up to speed.

It would be good if this coming summer we signed another top notch prospect like Dibling. Solidify long term growth and of course add some excitement and entertainment.

Ehhh not massively, he only had 1.5 expected assists last year.

Them being a truly dreadful team does mean you'd expect that to inherently tick up when moving to a better one, but still, he wasn't manufacturing good shooting chances for either himself or his team compared to his dribbling capability. BUT - that stuff is very coachable. The stuff he can already do simply isn't coachable - you can't teach a non-Dibling player to do Dibling stuff. But you can teach a Dibling player to do non-Dibling stuff. That's the gamble and why we paid 35m.

Agree with everything else in your post btw.

Thats weird as in the first half of last season for Southampton he put in crosses with one sticking out where a player shot wide and another hit a rugby conversion. Both from the middle of the goal.

No idea now on the games but id expect to see those in highlights of his time at Southampton.

I'd actually say the areas for him to improve would be:

Stamina
Right foot
Partnerships with RB, RCM and CF

Maybe in the cup? I'm just looking at the prem so quite possibly.

Could be, its 12months ago and i was only focused on Dibling so cant remember now :)

What was his XG and XA vs Burnley?
Only 0.1 and 0.1 respectively using fbref, but a) that's not a very accurate model for looking at individual chances and b) his biggest chance probably didn't get recorded because Beto missed it entirely rather than taking a shot. So not much to learn from that.

He did have 8 shot creating actions which is 3rd most any player of ours has recorded this season, I believe Grealish has the top 2 with 10 and 9. So he was making stuff happen!

Thats the thing, with XG & XA at the end of the season these nuances like with Beto or the handball blocking his goalbound shot dont count.

While in reality it should be 1 & 1.

Hopefully he starts against Forest with Grealish replacing McNeil.

Or it could just be that they’ve not been able to put any posts like this out seeing as up until this game he’s been lucky to get 10 mins, therefore no good stats to post about?

Although I hope it’s more to do with your point! But not convinced…

Generally these things even out across the board over a whole season (or longer), so the 'worse' xG models work fine for that. But for individual games and especially individual shots you want the really high quality/detailed xG models which are usually hard to access publicly

….Aznou has featured in club official media outputs, as have the reserve keepers so I don’t think it’s game time related.

A very pleasant read over the last few pages, and than I hit XG - XA 🙄

Surely their must be some kind of "Spoiler" option for this.

Currently their is no cure for this, once read..

I mean, Safety first and all that..

I’d look at moving Grealish into the right hand 8 position and KDH the left hand 8. Ndiaye could then go back to the left side and Dibling on the right. We’d then have 4 players behind he’s striker who can all take the ball on the turn and beat a man.
