2025/26 Tyler Dibling

You can argue he can’t do much in fits and starts of appearances but he had 20+ tonight and only put one attempt at a cross in and didn’t try to take a man on like Ili would usually do. There’s a player in there and hopefully he gets more time in the next 3/4 games but, like Alcaraz, he has to show it to earn it

On the flipside he had about 4 minutes against Newcastle and immediately nutmegged his fullback and put in a perfect cut back to KDH on the edge of the box. Looked bright against Chelsea too.

This sort of inconsistency and struggles with confidence is always going to the the case with a kid who's had this few minutes

So what do you propose we do then? Just play McNeil and be done with it?

I don’t know if it’s escaped your notice but a lot of our players don’t warrant regular starts. We have a bang average squad with a sprinkle of decent players mixed in.

What’s your solution to the problem? Loan someone in January? Sell or loan this lad out?

I’d like him to start playing to his ability. I’m not sure why that’s so controversial.

McNeil doesn’t perform more often than not and he starts games.

Gana is awful at times and played in some shameful games for Everton yet people idolise him for some reason

The left back gets a nose bleed at the very thought of a overlap

It goes on and on
I'm not arguing any of this. I'm just not going to criticise a manager for not selecting a player who is yet to make any impact on matches.

I would personally give Dibling the start on Saturday because Burnley are not Arsenal, and we need to see more to find out what he can do. But right now I wouldn't say I would be confident he will have a good game. We really need to see more from him.

But it all goes back to recruitment. No one is going convince me spending over 40m on him was the best use of resources.

I see Grealish gets a pass for going downhill the last 3 weeks.

Sideways and backwards passes and balls out of play from Grealish but gets plenty of minutes.

Very peculiar attitude from some fans.

Grealish isnt getting a free pass at all. Loads of posts saying he isnt doing enough.

Only because people disagree with you doesnt mean you should middle finger posts if you dont agree. Just difference of opinions Zat

Has Dibling been given enough minutes? No

Has Dibling looked crap in the limited minutes hes been given? Yes.

Im middle fingering posts that clearly havent seen the player on the pitch. Then slate him.

But even if no one had watched him and said "he's been crap so far" they wouldnt be wrong would they?

He looks like a Grealish replacement to me and he won't be replacing Grealish this season thats for sure. He may come good next season, but weve spent a hell of a lot of money on a player for next season if thats the case as we are really short this season.

People havent said that?

Theyve said

Waste of money
Crap
Poor recruitment

Then alluded to him being the same every game in his career.

Blah blah when clearly theyve not seen him before these few mins.

Looking at Grealish last 3 games id drop him for Dibling or McNeil.

I have no concerns about this lad. There is obvious quality there, it's just about getting him in the team and making sure he's used correctly.

Plenty of other players we've signed this summer who I think are less likely to make it here than he is.

Have to keep reminding myself that us spending £40m on him doesn't do anything for his development. It will still take as long as it takes for him to become something and this kind of output is to be expected at this stage of his development.

Obviously could do with a lot more minutes, though, and hopefully he gets a run in the next few games.
