2025/26 Tyler Dibling

….he started two games (I think) against Wolves and Palace and got hooked in them both (the Palace game at half-time). He’s ayoung professional, he should be sitting on the bench desperate to come on against tiring defenders.

Posters keep making excuses for him but ultimately it’s down to him.

I completely agree it's down to the lad to push for and sustain a role in the side but whereas the pressure was off him when he played for Southampton last season in what was a pretty dismal team the expectations on his shoulders following his transfer to us probably weighs more on him than before.

But, yes, if he wants to make a name for himself and to play with the grown ups then he needs to start proving himself capable of doing so.

….must be watching a different game to me, McNeil has been dreadful but I wouldn’t say he’s not trying, indeed plenty on here suggest he’s trying too hard.

So, we have Dibling needs 20 minutes at the end of every game and now a suggestion that coming on as a substitute is too difficult for him because he’s too cold.

The lad just needs to make an impression when he gets the chance, none of us know what’s going on with him so leave it to the people who do know. It’s up to Dibling.

Too cold ?

I'm talking about a young kid who needs to be shown he's got a proper chance to show what he can do.

Yeah, nobody knows what's happening off the field, but it's not just dibling.

Barry - not ready yet, getting gametime though because Beto is the only other option. That gametime is showing he's gradually improving though.

Watching him when he comes on it seems like he has been instructed to play well within himself. Short passes sideways and backwards, rarely tries to turn with the ball or take a player on. For someone who just arrived from an overseas league that might be a sensible approach, like get your feet under you first, but this lad played 35 times in the league for Southampton. The slow introduction seems very much in contrast to Alcaraz(also Soton) who clearly is told to get out there and make something happen. There is more to this than meets the eye.

….regardless of age, people are different characters. Rooney was a kid who went to one of the biggest sporting franchises in the world and never batted an eyelid. Young Armstrong has dropped into the ultra competitive world of the Championship and plays like an old pro. Rohl goes to a new country and football culture and copes comfortably.

Dibling just looks a different character. For those in the ground early for the Palace game, Moyes took him to one side early in the warm up and was talking to him in isolation for a good few minutes. I can only guess they’re working on his mind set.

I have mentioned, we rarely see him in training pics released by the club, might be nothing in it but I wonder if they’re keeping him out of the way a little. Hopefully he’s in the squad on Monday and is ready to get involved.

Mcneil shat out of 5 tackles last game , didnt challenge he a header twice and runs around in divers boots.
But he tries eh ?????

Palace ...yes he had a bad half of a game ( maybe Moyes could have encouraged the lad at half time and give him at least 10/15 in the 2nd to up his game ) bad management to straight hook the kid.
He didnt play well we all see that , it happens to all players at some time even seasoned proffessionals.
The kid is obviously very talented & highly regarded yet has played the equivailant of a game and a half when others such as Mcneil get the nod ahead of him. Thats like a slap in the face , as is 4/5 meaningless minutes at the end of a game.

Thats more down to a stubborn manager than anything.

He’ll be wanting Dibling to produce but when he doesn’t he’ll try McNeil. Personally, given the match situation I was delighted to see McNeil coming on at Sunderland. 1-1, under the cosh, McNeil has been decent for us in the last 18 months. Turns out he was as ineffective as Dibling against Palace but I understood why Moyes made that decision.

We’re seeing this dislike for McNeil because of Dibling, yet he was one of our better players for 18 months and folk were disappointed when he was out injured. I think of Palace at home last season.

I expect its now Diblings turn again, if both continue to disappoint then Moyes might have to try something else in January.

Christ , what am i reading here.

Under no circumstances should McNeil getting on that pitch in front of any injury free , capable & able to kick a ball players.
He's gone....finished ...offers absolutely nothing . Btw he was backing out of tackles there too.

He's not just doing this to Dibling he's treating Alcaraz in the same way.
Not good management at all.
