2025/26 Tyler Dibling

He may be the player we need for the future, but isn’t the player we needed for this particular season. We needed direct running and pace.
Its almost like we thought we have 2 very good wingers currently, let's invest in a young player with bags of potential who will be ready to go once Indy and young Jack move on.

But I get it, we have no full backs.

We were never fixing the squad in 1 window.

Dont see a 50m player in Dibbers, but the idea was a good 1.

But its a long season, he will get his chances.

Hes the player we need for after the big sale of Ndiaye in the summer.

The same way Barry isn't the player we needed this summer. And we didn't get a right back we needed this summer, and Aznou isn't the player we needed this summer. The club kicked this season down the road and paid a premium on KDH and Grealish to keep us sane in the mean time

Would love to see him get some confidence, but you can see for now hes not close to pushing for gametime. He definitely doesnt look the level of Ndiaye, Grealish, Alcaraz and KDH right now, but thats fine(for now) as I suspect we bought him for the future, and the learn as a backup right now.

The dream.

But seriously though. He's our 3rd most expensive ever signing who's barely starting a game and doesn't look ready either.

Send him back to Southampton on loan for a year.
That in itself isn’t that bad an idea, several teams have done similar in the past with young players. The issue we had was numbers, albeit with both Alcaraz and McNeil able to play on either side of midfield he still might not be first choice when that comp comes around.

I don't know mate.
I think he needs a bit of confidence and you only get that with game time.
Trouble is we are not in a position to experiment.
Honestly I was hoping he would grab his fortune in signing for us by the scruff of the neck and make an instant impact.
He's still a kid really, away from home and all that means.
I'd like him to get more game time.

He’s 19 and we’re in a fortunate position that he can actually have time to settle in because we have two exceptional wide players at the moment. The goal has to be for him to be up to speed by January when Illy goes to AFCON. But even if he’s not fully there by then…he’s 19. Top talent is Tyler.
