To some extent maybe it was.Looks like/ feels more like a business op than football one.
There is every chance that he wasn’t a priority and that money was earmarked for another position. However, we couldn’t find a suitable player in that position so it was decided to take the opportunity to purchase Dibling now, rather than wait and potential miss out/pay even more next year.
People look at football transfers in such a binary way but it’s much more complex.
Just because we bought one player doesn’t mean that we could have bought another. Or that we prioritised it over another position.
It’s all based on team need, risk, finances and opportunity.
