2025/26 Tyler Dibling

It a baffling we spent so much on this lad when he’s being left on the bench.
All we’ve heard is the rebuild can’t be done in one window, so why was Barry @ £27m and Dibling @ £38m deemed more urgent than say a £60m+ striker?
Didn’t seem to be much competition for him, was he really going to be worth significantly more in Jan or next summer?
Looks like/ feels more like a business op than football one.
It's been like 2 games mate.

First because what is the backup rm when ndiaye is off the acon in jan. was an area of the pitch like cf we had a problem in with harrison lindstrom both have well pathetic seasons here. The lad does look to have talent also has been away with england u21 and started the season with southampton with injured/ maybe them not playing him to risk a sale. Do agree would have wanted see more from him off the bench maybe sat was the start of us seeing him get game time. Would expect him to be the starting rm when ndiaye is away and hopefully can see him playing well

There’s not many young signings that are a sure bet they’ll develop into a top player but anyone in the game who talks about this boy says what a talent he is/will be.

Who would you drop for him at the moment? He’s still young so good that he’s eased in regardless
That’s not really the point I’m making, I’m wondering why we’re paying that much for a bench warmer / prospect when we appear to have a more pressing need in the striker department.

You been impressed with our striking options so far then?

Besides, I’m not questioning if he’s any good or not, I’m questioning why we’ve paid so much of our transfer kitty on him when our striking options appear to be so limited.

Hopefully Barry is going to come good, all I’m saying is, was £60m+ on Dibling and Barry as prudent as £60m+ on a better striker with our current squad. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Both McNeil and Alcaraz have been played there (and LM).

I’m not knocking the lad btw, hopefully he’s a superstar but if we’re not going to see that until the next season or two, wouldn’t our more pressing priority be an improvement to our striking dept?

Well i'm replying to your post which said it's baffling that we signed him because he's been left on the bench, by saying it's been 2 maybe 3 games. If he's left on the bench for the entire season and Barry doesn't score any goals then the point will have some merit, if he gets lots of game time and Barry does a decent job over the course of the season then it won't. It's way too early to be speculating on it now. We're not aiming to win the league this year, signing players who make us better in the long run is absolutely 100% the thing to be prioritising.

My since apologies, shall keep my musings to myself in future.
Not sure what came over me posting such thoughts on a football forum.
Keep up the good work telling us all what our opinions should be 👍

I mean I clearly didn't say anything about you not being allowed to have an opinion or anything remotely derogatory, I just replied to your (unnecessarily sarcastic) post with my own thoughts. If you don't like that sort of interaction then yes it would probably be best if you didn't post on a football forum.

We should be buying younger players with upside. Having said that, those were the players available to us. How many 60 million + strikers are coming to a club that has been in the bottom half, battling relegation, for the past four seasons?

A £60mil striker wouldn't have come to us..

We have to build an attractive base to start appealing to a certain level of player, no europe is a kick in the ass straight away when trying to look for already proven talent.
