1) I haven't a clue on how this will work. Tax isn't my area anyway but reading the article, it seems that the rebates will occur this year.

2) What do I make of it? I'm actually having a real laugh and here's why.

For the past 8 years, the Democrats have been steadily pounding the table saying that the economy is in bad shape and that it's all Bush's fault. Of course the media joined in and that's all you heard. For 8 freaking years:

Clinton = Good Economy

Bush = Bad Economy

Unfortunately for the Dems, for the most part, the economy was sound. When we hit a bit of a road bump, the Bush tax cuts made a huge difference and kept things humming. It was like the average American was hearing how bad it was for everyone else but their own situation was just fine. But if the news is saying the economy is bad, well it must be then.

But what makes me laugh is that IF things WERE REALLY that bad over that time frame, where in the hell were the Dems? I mean why weren't they proposing an economic stimulus package 4, 5, or 6 years ago? I mean that would have certainly helped them in the eyes of the American public and probably led to more votes down the road since they could have been perceived as the party who wanted to do something for the average Joe while the evil Republicans watched Rome burn.

But the fact was the US economy was NOT in as bad a shape as they were trying to convince everyone and Bush was not to blame. Meanwhile, over the past 3 years, they've shifted and the table pounding since then has been that the Bush tax cuts did nothing for the economy. Hahahaha.... Don't know whether to laugh or cry at that one. :lol:

The funny thing is this stimulus is suppose to stimulate our economy. Is that truely correct. The government wants you to spend it but if your buying foreign goods most notably Chinese is it really helping our economy. Hmmm....Hmmm........

Well I'm not going to turn the check away come May but I was ammused what Nancy Pelosi had to say last night. $1200.00 per married couple plus $300.00 per child not to bad.

Dylan time for the Dish Network for you and Setanta Sport @ $14.99. By my estimations that would have you in front of the goggle box untill 2018 watching our beloved blues.(y)

Mike, if I could, I would have been on Setanta long ago. My landlords are very anal about Satellite dishes. It is against Federal Law for them to forbid them, but they can stop me from attaching it to the house itself. So my option would be to mount it on a tri-pod outside, or a cement filled bucket. The problem with that is it is super easy to steal, and it is way too much work to take it out when I want to watch tv and then put it in when we are done. PITA is what it is.

What would anyone do with a stolen Satellite dish? Aren't they free anyway?

As far as tax cuts go, rebates are the only cut in taxes that oridinary people including me actually something from, so I don't mind them. But as far as the ecomony goes a 300billion tax cut won't do anything in a 4 trillion dollar ecomony. Most likely more than 300 billion dollars are gained/lost in one day at the NY stock exchange.

Actually I think that Clinton did more for republicans than republican presidents. You republicians should be naming airports after him instead of Reagan. Sure Reagan and Bush 2 cut taxes for rich people but they just did it by increasing the deficit meaning it has to be paid back with interest a few years down the road. Reagan also increased spending as well. Regan or Bush 1 never proposed or fought with congress for anything as radical as ending guarenteed welfare did they? There was what 1 small minimum wage increase under Clinton (in a time of unpresidented growth)? Under Bush 2 you got an insane spending increase, a horrible Medicare drug entitlement in which the govt can't set prices for drugs (so no one benefits - unless you work for a drug company, and 1/2 the drug companies aren't even American corporations) like say every other country in the world does. A big incrase in the federal workforce also happened under Bush 2 after Clinton reduced it too. Clinton also seemed to sign more free-trade pacts than any other president combined.

There was a reason why liberals went to Nader in 2000. Name one permanent piece of leglisation that's considered liberal that was passed by Clinton in 8 years because I can't. Hell I can't think of one thing that Hillary has even mentioned in her campaign that would be considered liberal.

If the nominiees are McCain and Hillary, I might vote for McCain because I think he will probaly be the more liberal president. And trust me she may say she will, but Hillary isn't going to pull out of Iraq either.

Mmmmmmm....

I like your thinking there Suits. (y)

Its off the actual thread beginning, but along the lines of what i mentioned above...

an animal stabbed a 14 year old girl 30 times a couple of days ago

bless the attempted murderers cotton socks, im sure there is some excuse or reason so as to pass on the responsibility, after all, in current society, its the criminals that are the victims.
