When he left us he was being touted as potentially one of the best in the world. In the early years at United he was up there with Ronaldo. Now he's scrapping it out with Raheem Sterling for a starting spot. Bit of a fall from grace.

Nothing wrong at all with what Lescott choose it was just the circus that surrounded the transfer that was the problem.

Yeah we got a great fee for him but it cost us a good start (yet again) to the season and then Moyes wasted most of the money. Jags has been great for us and yes he's at the World Cup and probably enjoying every minute of it, but if Arsenal had have upped their offer back in 2009/10 he'd have been off as well. Football is just a job like any other and people will always move on for more money, especially as their peak performance and earning years are so limited.

By any objective standard he's had an utterly fantastic career. 8 trophies, 270 goals, ect, ect.

You could say that about hundreds of players though. Rooney has done well, but lets face it, his physique has been as much to do with him not sustaining the brilliance of his teenage years.

England he has disappointed, but he has had more good seasons for Utd than bad ones.
