Think it is interesting to note the two different paths of Jags and Lescott.

Lescott who left Everton is not at the World Cup but won the League and others whereas Jags is now one of the main two centre-backs of the England Team at the World Cup but he has not won any medals.

Personally if I put myself in the shoes of a footballer, I would chose the path of Jags (hopefully without being biased). To be loved by the Club (and Captain of) and represent the country at the World Cup is where I want to be.

It's all about the love for me. No one really loves lescott. And his medals won't mean half as much as they would if he was a first team player. I'm sure his bank balance contents him though.

We got silly money for him and in the end we were well rid, but if he stayed and managed to scrimp along on only 60K per WEEK or so he would've been in Brazil with Jags

cant really blame him for moving, he probably backed himself to be good enough to cut it at city, as it turned out another case of the grass not always being greener
When you look at all the evidence from recent years I don't think the grass is ever greener to be honest.

I was having this exact conversation a few weeks back with a few mates. Sort of comes down to a what would you prefer.

Jagielka will go down as a club legend for us (as I consider most club captains do given the right circumstances) and will always have a place at Everton (and even Sheff United) as well as being able to give a proper insight into being a first choice England player for a full qualifying campaign and tournament (a tournament which could be going down as the arguably the greatest world cup ever).

Lescott on the other hand has more cash, he still has England caps and he has medals, He's had a good career, but he has no place to really call home. He's an after thought to Man City fans, hated by us and, while Wolves fans still like him he hasn't scaled the heights they expected him to.

I think the football world will remember Jags with more respect and acclaim than Lescott.

Jags was always the better defender IMO. I remember being relieved they had come with the big cash for lescott and not jags!

We didn't do too badly with his replacement either....Distin lacks things that lescott offered sure, but right now I wouldn't swap lescott for jags, Distin or stones.

Go on then I'd swap for alcaraz :)

we shouldn't muddy the waters though, he was superb for us, he wanted to go and we made a huge profit, it got a bit dirty when he left, but personally I don't harbour any ill will towards the lad
