TTIP

The concern posed by this potential agreement may well have foundations, but that article admits that it actually has no clue as to what is going to be in it. Is there any real evidence that the deaf and the blind are going to be targeted in order to ensure they aren't infringing copyright? It all sounds like a plot from an episode of The Turtles. It wouldn't surprise me if Lex Luthor was in on it.

The argument seems to be that the official declarations, and there have been many, made about what is going to be in TTIP are all lies. It's conspiracy theory stuff, and sadly it's often being made by people who so often proclaim to love their fellow man, just so long as they're not trying to trade with them, in which case they aren't to be trusted at all.

Ho hum. Churlish tommyrot.

The trading elements aren't any issue at all, it is the duplicity and interpretation that are the concern.

Trading rights take precedent over the rights of an individual or citizen, bypassing any democratic process and places corporacy above all else. So the concern for 'fellow man' is the root of concern.

Unfortunately, due to circumstance, attitude, ignorance, relevance and blind propaganda most people will not look at the devil in the detail, an intent on the part of the negotiators, and as such walk willingly into legislation that binds and ties those at the bottom but frees those at the top. It will negate all previous benefits for the individual in the pursuit of profit with no access to recall.

It happens already in practice but this makes it legal and becomes a defence that profit seeking itself can be considered due diligence in law.

That's just it, most of the 'anti' posts/comments/statements are just that kind of generalisation about corporacy or the poor being done over for a wealthy elite. When specific fears were put to the EU, they posted public rebuttals about pretty much each and every one of them.

So you either have more specific fears that the EU haven't rebutted in public, or you're saying the EU are lying on a scale scarcely seen before.

Is that the myth buster stuff you refer to? Think that has been covered before, nothing in it other than slant and propaganda, certainly not enough to be a rebuttal. Would anything else be expected?

And I would use the term deceitful rather than lying, my earlier post alludes to the methodology, and yes, on that scale.

Think it isn't possible for that scale to be organised? Think that was the case over Libor and sub prime too? Each of those cases in question used rebuttals when first challenged.
