Transfer Window and that

Player Valuation: £70m
The transfer window is quickly drawing to a close- by midnight tonight we will know the squad we have to work with for the next 4 months. Whatever signings come in today and are in place for our next game against Stoke the season can only get better.

The bedrock to our success last- the defence, have had an extremely shaky start. Lescott who was like the great wall of China last season has looked average, Yobo inconsistent and Jags being played in midfield. The way I see it- this will only improve.

A good defence doesn’t turn bad over night, granted, maybe they don’t have the defensive cover that they had last season in Super Lee but the goals we have conceded have been from bad defending from the back not players coming from midfield.

The recall of Lescott to the national team will do his confidence the world of good and with this two week break we have in front of us Moyes can take it back to basics on the training ground.

I believe that two weeks for any player that comes in today is a healthy gap to get the player settled in with the lads and fit enough to play against Stoke. This International break is a god send for us and I hope we can take full advantage of it and come back raring to go. Any new signings will lift the place and give the players an extra spring in their step.

Add to this the news that Cahill looks like he will be at least ready for the bench against Stoke and Pienaar is only a couple of weeks away after that. The best football we played last season was with the midget gems across the middle and Cahill off the Yak.

Im sorry Im going to do it- token line up:

Howard

Neville Yobo Jags Lescott

Castillo/Another?!

Arteta Osman Pienaar

Cahill

Yak

= Awesome.

Things can only get better, I am positive we will see new faces in today and lets treat this International break as it should be- a chance for the guys to knuckle down and get it right for Stoke- a very beatable team even with the current the problems.

COME ON YOU BLUES!!!!!!

I'm positive too, but I feel unless a top signing is unveiled, then this summer is going to leave a bitter taste for us the fans, and whenever we fail this season, which we will do at some point, the finger will point to this period of time.

I've never been a fan of Lee Carsley, but appreciate that he did get stuck in, if without any craft or creativity. I also felt he was left chasing in the closing dusk of his Everton career.

Making it for me the most important position to fill. Not because of the player, but because the position is the most important position in the team. Have an average defensive midfielder, and you have an average side.

So with that, is Moutinho even that player? I personally feel it was a stab of getting our own Ronaldo, Fabregas, Deco, dare I say it Gerrard. I still believe that Fernandes was the guy we needed, and on a permanent basis - but that ship has sailed.

Alan Smith played there for Man U, so why not here, if the rumours are true. I would be happy, not delighted, but happy if that was the case. However, fans out there are going to bay for the blue blood of Kenwright if he fails to deliver that "Watch This Space" signing.

I'm working all day, but will have my iPhone constantly on me at all times.

We still need two midfielders, the starting eleven is as good as anyone’s outside the top four but we have no strength in depth. If we don't get any we'll have to rely on players like Van der Meyde who is unreliable as we know. It can't be like that to be honest, we definatly need a few players in today.

I disagree with the midfield not being at fault, it isn't just the defence. The team as a whole has defended terribly. The midfield has offered no protection whatsoever and that has left the defence vulnerable and exposed. Rodwell is a talented boy but I honestly don’t think he is a defensive midfielder and his positioning needs alot of work. Phil Jagielka as we know is lost in the position. If we get a reliable defensive midfielder in we’ll be fine.

I’d like to see us sign Saha, Obinna and two central midfielders today, one creative and one defensive.
