Hello,
How is the traffic on the nights going from Liverpool to Stanstead on the night between the 22nd and 23rd or december? Would it be possible to do that in say 5 hours in a car?

Will the traffic be heave due to very close to christmas time?

And does anyone know if there are "usually" heavy delays to and from the airports?

Someone might guees wtf I am asking these silly questions b)(y)

Maybe, i've done it before and it took around 5 hours but with it being so close to Christmas, it could be even worse.

I swear since petrol went down to 92p a litre or whatever it is, there are more cars on the road. It's pissing me off.

Well, I would like to try to catch a take off at 7 am on the morning of december 23rd and the game I want to watch ends 9.45 p.m. on the 22nd of december. That give me around 7-8 hours to do the drive - with a GPS it sometimes is possible - would you know if that is straightforward to use in Britain as well?

Thought of renting a car and then do the drive - I'm used to left hand steering and I have never cruised the british M's before bwtf - I fancy seeing the blues take point from the classy blokes from London...

If your travelling through the night you should be ok. M6 Sth all the way to the end then pick up the A14. Follow that till you see signs for Cambridge and the M11. The M11 will take you all the way to Stansted.

That's good advice from Woody, Svend.

You'll have plenty of time if you do that route. As for driving on the left, take it slowly and you'll be fine. Don't be tempted to go too fast on the motorways as many of my countrymen like to go faster than the speed limit which is about 113 kilometres/hour - not all our motorway police are understanding of visitors from abroad.

Hello and thanks for the advices. I would prefer a steady tempo myself. There is some challenges to it though - like how to get in on a game against Chelsea two days before christmas :P:D I guess every father wants to take his son to that game on the Merseysideb) - I'll do some thinking, but the better the Blues plays the worse it gets with me for going......

thanks once again

our roads would be fine if they werent clogged up with foreign drivers:D

fly to manchester, at least you can catch one of our expensive trains and have a beer as well.

dont give those southern bastards your money !!!

Thats what I'd suggest as well, fly to Manchester, it's only a 45 minute coach/train ride from there and it drops you off within walking distance of the ground

My problem is that the only flight from Manchester is in the afternoon. And unlike England, the 23rd is a traditional christmas day in Denmark, so I have to catch the early flight - but I just want that game you see? :D But if it is impossible then I will have to cancel - no fuss that's life. I'll try the link to the route planner

you can get a train from stanstead airport to liverpool lime street with one change over half way takes a bout 4 hours have a look at that i did that when we played villareal and couldnt get aflight from speke

got a neg rep as apparently that was deemed racist. obviously someone is either oversensative or using any excuse to give neg.

on the subject of "foreign drivers", our roads are clogged up with trucks from all over europe who contribute absolutely nothing to our system as they pay no road tax, buy no fuel here so no fuel tax, and some do not meet the standard required to hold a u.k. hg v license, anyone who thinks otherwise obviously hasnt driven much lately.

on the subject of "southern bastards", well if you find that offensive and racist then you really should find something better to worry about tbh, as the amount of times i have been referred to as a northern [Poor language removed] or whilst at an away game a scouse [Poor language removed] is immeasurable.

are you a chelsea fan by any chance ? try leeds/bradford o, east midlands or birmingham as all of these are closer than stanstead which is in the south and full of wonderful people who think likewise of us that are above watford gap yet below the poverty line:D

No way in hell!!!!!!!!!!

Arh come on mate! I have posted a pic of my grandad (taken in 1983 - 25 years ago) in another thread - as I went to the United game I had several officials try to pick out the point where the picture of my grandad was taken - none of them could identify the spot and told me stadium had been rebuild on the front side - perhaps the picture was taken at the Finch Farm?????

Here is the picture:
