Top summer Targets

We need world class players. Ok that might be out of our reach at the moment (both in terms of wages/fee and attracting them) but we have to keep aiming higher.

Thinking the likes of Jimmy Bullard are gonna turn us into the best team in Europe is not gonna help.

First things first and thats get Pienarr permanent. Then we can aim for a top quality defensive mid.

I wouldn't mind seeing David Bentley come here though. I know he is young but from what i've seen he is very impressive and will one day be a regular England international. One of the few English players outside the top 3 i'd like here.

I think as fans it says a lot that we cant think of many players available to improve us, i guess we just have to trust moyes!

We need world class players, i love that one, we needed them more when Smith was in charge!:D

the likes of bentley confident player self assured hard working team player all the right
credentials he will be fought over inthe summer us, villa, totenham

There aren't too many out there that we could afford that would make us much better.

I guess maybe keep stockpiling young talent (Bradley, Dempsey, Bentley and a CB becasue its only a matter of time big money until thrown at Lescott) in case teams start coming after our players.

I love Bullard but to much of an injury risk and would struggle to get in the starting 11.

would anyone else not be dissapointed if we didn't see any new faces (aside from signing up our players on loan), as it is we're having trouble squeezing arteta pienaar osman cahill carsley and neville into our midfield, and we still play lescott out of position because we have too many good centre backs. oh how i've dreamed of having "problems" like this!

i don't really see the need for a big money "world class" signing, who would they replace? we have a rather solid team, i like the suggestion of taken some shots at signing up little ones, we're at the point where we can start thinking about the future.

Sell Arteta, buy a top-tier midfielder who actually improves our chances in the big games, someone very aggressive...

Lorik Cana, & a good winger. Don't buy Fernandes.

sell arteta??? i have to strongly disagree with that, his contributions to our club are immense, he's without a doubt one of our best playmakers, it would take a number with a lot of 0's in front of it before i'd be happy parting with arteta.

I don't know, from what I've seen this season we play as well with Arteta as without him. I know we all love him, and he was an absolute bargain. But, problem is, he doesn't add too much in the big games. He is a great asset, but Pienaar & even Osman are more important for me in those biggest games. I think Pienaar, Osman, Arteta together is a combination that doesn't have enough power in it.

So, if he was a great bargain, is class, but doesn't add very much to us in the big games we might as well cash in on him to bring someone in who we know is going to dominate the midfield.

We are past the point where we need "pretty good" players who add numbers to our game. Now we need to bring in one or two class acts, players who can make a huge difference going up against the best teams in Europe & at home. I'm not saying we should stop shopping for bargain buys like Arteta & Cahill, but we do need one top class central midfielder. And maybe a winger. And if Arteta helped us afford that I would take it.

If we can afford a top class midfielder to put in instead of Carsley then there's no need to sell Arteta of course.

I fully understand this, he shys away in big games. All sides who win things have a leading central midfielder who runs it...Viera, Keane, Lampard recently. I think thats where we need to look if we are to take the next step.

But before this...in my opinion our absolute priority 1st and foremost is getting lescott to sign a new deal as long as possible

This season we will finish either 4th, 5th or 6th with the team he has got so if we dont improve by bringing in quality players next season we will finish 4th5th,6th or less. are we happy with this? im not i want to be challenging arsenal and man united not fighting the scum for 4th place. maybe if we won the prem by 15 points we wouldn't have to strengthen until then we do.

arteta has been carrying injury since october. that he has played for us through the pain of injury is testament to his dedication and desire for our club.

moyes went for lucho gongalez last summer. its clear he has that position in mind. what we still lack is a top class left footer in midfield. and a top class right back/right wing back would be a nice addition.

How fickle can you be? Osman can't touch Arteta in any department except marginally shooting. As he's been injured all season and has only been 'good' - not providing a cutting edge in big games - and not excellent as he has been player of the season twice, you think we should get rid?
