Still very much on. Arsenal's fixtures are at least as tough as ours, our form is far better than theirs, and we play them in the final match. I know it's been a while since we won at Highbury, and it's probably Wenger's final match, however it will also their 5th league game in 15 days.

I'd write that off right now. No way Wenger is going out n a bum note.

Considering a lot of Arsenal fans seem to feel the same way about him that we felt about Martinez, I think he is going out on a bum note whenever he goes, top 4 or not.

Hopefully we can win them at the Emirates

It would be good to go in to that game on the final day with a similar goal difference and within 3 points of them. It's looking highly unlikely we will get ahead of them now but if it goes down to the final day then we may just have a chance.

Arsenal fixtures: Leicester (H), Tottenham (A), Man United (H), Southampton (A), Stoke (A), Sunderland (H)
Everton fixtures: West Ham (A), Chelsea (H), Swansea (A), Watford (H)

Realistically we would need them to win only 3, lose to Spurs and draw 2 which would put them on 68 before our game with them. So if we won 2 and drew 2 which is certainly possible then we'd be on 65 going to the Emirates. We'd have to put 3 or 4 past Watford as well to stand a chance of having a comparable goal difference with them having the 2 games in hand.

For us to open up a 13 point gap to the team below us and still be in contention to finish six, shows how well we have done since Christmas.

We really need to improve our away form if we want to consistently challenge these teams. We've seen Liverpool and Arsenal play poorly and both win away games this week. I always get the feeling no matter how well we are playing that every away game we go into it thinking a point is enough and we'll pick up wins at Goodison rather than demanding the win.

6th or 7th is just a breast beating matter. They're still both nowhere.

This season is a base to work from next season: younger players (eventually) blooded; stye of play from Koeman's first few months of hoofball to a style that these players are accustomed to now accepted as the way to go by the manager (hopefully); fortress Goodison back in place; two good CMs in to takeover from Barry and McCarthy.

That is the real worth of this season, not some nowhere league position.
Wow a positive post. You okay mate?

We had a brilliant run since the turn of the year, isn't a surprise the form improved once we got Scnides in and removed a lot of debt wood. Roms also hit form and an improvement in Barkley is why we're doing so well.

For us it's same old same old, every time we have a good season so do the big boys. Martinez 1st season and this season. Take last year, we could have easily got top 4 but had a crap season. Did that a few times under Moyes. Take the year we attually finished 4th, RS win the CL and we were almost kicked out.

Next year is we're it's at, we have a great base to build on, money to spend, good young players who have had more game time(TD,NH,DCL,AL) a fantastic midfielder who runs games in Snides, the likely golden boot winner(or 100mil) and a European adventure to look forward to.

Dunno mate, cross was the one who ran that story about a one year deal effectively having been signed. And of all journos he's by far the one with connections at arsenal.
I'd be amazed if he was there next season.

He just wants to get over the finish line of this season before announcing he's leaving. He's proud and doesn't want to be seen to be caving in to the media rail roading of fan discontent. Quite rightly too.

Just watching SSN premier review. They're showing a top 7 league table, and the presenter said to Tony Gale, todays analyst, "and we HAVE to include Everton who are on the same points as Arsenal. How well are they doing in turning the top 6 into a top 7?).

In fairness, Tony Gale was quite complimentary towards us despite comparing us to his old club West Ham (I do think that was more the type of club we are, i.e. old school working class, rather than our standing in the game). He did come across as genuinely liking us and pleased that we we're doing well, calling us a breath of fresh air. The presenters comments though? Smacks of, "I don't really want to do this but they keep on winning so I have to"
