Any two from the 5 of them would be very strong as a pair. Mountfield would get an honourable mention as would Hurst.

Ratcliffe.

Distin.

I'm too young to have seen Labone play, but I agree 100% with the other four.

Ratcliffe & Mountfield obviously benefitted from playing alongside each other: they were an excellent pairing.

Watson was an absolute rock.

Distin was underrated, even by some Blues. I don't see Jagielka (for instance) as being at his level.

Gough, Lescott and Stones all vying for that 5th spot IMHO.

Jags and Distin are so far ahead for me it feels wrong to list another three beside them. Class acts, top pros and a great complementary partnership.

with Stones, Mountfield and Gough almost making the cut and Weir, Yobo and Stubbs the best of the rest. Never saw Labone or Lyons though. Coady and Tarkowski are the first centre-backs I have had confidence in since Jags although Mina showed a few glimpses at times.
