On Christmas Day 1934, Everton veritably wolloped Sunderland 6-2 with the Blues' goals coming from Jackie Coulter, Dixie Dean, Albert Gelard, Alex Stevensson and Jimmy Cunliffe with a brace.

The return fixture was played the following day. Whether the Everton players had overindulged back at home is not but the result of - a 7-0 win for Sunderland - certainly suggests some of the Blues may not of been in tip-top condition.

Lets hope that Yakubu and co don't eat too many Festive Treats eh boys?

didn't everton play Sunderland in the FA cup a few weeks later (1935) and it finished 6 - 4 or something to Merseysides finest.

Dean did not score that day :blink:, and he was playing, there was a quarter of an hour left in change and Toffees were winning 3-1, Sunderland score two to level, and it finished 6-4 to us, i'm 90 per cent certain of this.

Still get a bit hacked off that Dean was one appearance short of 400 league games when he went to Notts County, Cottee did a similar thing when he left to go to wherever it was.
