Personally I don't think the press label us as best of the rest but more of team punching above their weight. Other clubs spend more and have done for seasons and been rated above us on the back of that.

That article is just being sensationalist for the sake of it IMO
Journalists always write/talk up the the clubs with money coz their bosses want it. Percentage game I suppose. 9 times out of ten They will come out on top. We've bucked the trend on that score so it pisses them well off.

Dave was right on this. You are all getting uptight with out looking close at some of the points made. We are treading water, just drifting, sure we have injuries but that does not excuse the lame performances over the last half dozen games.

A few knee-jerk responses after the article, but this one caught my eye : "Its a marriage of mutual inconvenience - in our parlous financial position we can't attract much better than Moyes and given his continuing limitations as a manager he will never do better than us."

haha, what a load of tosh.

I did enjoy this bit though... "What's happened to Jo, for example?" What do you mean what's happened? Nothing's happened. He was crap when we got him, and he's still crap.

Can't argue with nuch of what he said.

Wers [Poor language removed]...yes
We need investment....yes
all club overtaking us.....yes
well end up in mid-table....yes (if were lucky)
Moyes reputation will be tarnished...yes

Oh an whats happend to Jo.............WTF are you on about, he's always been [Poor language removed]..!!!!

I love Moyesy - heres his response to Cascarino:

While some pundits have suggested Moyes’ reputation is going to suffer unless he walks away from the club, he is determined to resurrect his side’s fortunes and claims he will not buckle under the responsibility of doing so.

“I’m more interested in Everton’s reputation,” he said. “My aim is to keep Everton a top-six side. That’s what I’m interested in. David Moyes will work again if I have to, in time.

“The job of the manager is to find a winning formula. That is why I want to put my head above the parapet and be the one who says it’s my job to get us winning, no matter who or what I have got. That’s the job.

“It’s not hard to accept the responsibility. I want that responsibility and thrive on it. But I also need the players to want to hang on to my shirt tails and come along with me. And, in the main, the players have done that.

“My reputation was probably built on not having players and having to find certain ways of getting teams winning without many players in the team. We are probably in a situation now where I should try and come to the fore.”

A completely bizarre article.

The reason why Everton are mediocre at the moment has got everything to do with the manager.

He chooses which players to sign:

Artrta (3m) Pienaar (3m) Cahill (3m) (approx)

Fellaini (15m) Billy (9m) (they may come good, but there impact is far slower than the above 3)

He trains the players, he coaches the players. He runs the show apparently. He's the one to blame when it all goes wrong.

So who would want a manager who is failing?

The article is a load of rubbish. Its a pundits attempts at massaging his own ego, thinking just coz he says it people care. boring.(n)

In the Wolves v Arsenal game on at the moment, they put up the possession stat which was Arsenal 81% - Wolves 19%. Tony Cascarino's comment was, "As for possession, I think 19% is a little bit low, I think they've had more than that." Ok Tony, your brain is superior to Opta Stats mate, good thinking.
