Player Valuation: £70m
Former Everton player Tom Gardner has died at the age of 93.

He was the oldest surviving player to have ever appeared for the first team.

Tom played just one game for the Blues – a 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers in October 1947 – before injury ruined his top-flight career.

Alongside him at Goodison that afternoon were legends like Harry Catterick, Ted Sagar, TG Jones and Gordon Watson with a certain Billy Wright in the Wolves team!
Tom is survived by his wife Eileen and the thoughts and prayers of everyone at Everton are with her and the family at this sad time.

Once a Blue, always a Blue.
RIP Tom.

I did an interview with Tom which will appear in volume two of my book. I remember going to his home, and he and his wife Eileen were dressed as if they were going to church. They made me most welcome that day.
He told me that he wouldn't have much to tell me only having made the one appearance , but I was there with him for one and a half hours. RIP Tom, you were a gentleman and most of all an Evertonian. Goodnight and God bless.
