We don’t have the budget to improve the quality of the bench and the first team. So the focus will be on upgrading first team and spend as little as possible on back up, Davies is a cheap ‘back up’ player.

Ideally you don't want your backup to be several leagues below your first xi in terms of quality.

Davies can only play in central midfield, yet he's in no way a specialist as a defensive or attack-minded midfielder, nor can he pick a pass, dictate play, shoot, head the ball or win any physical battles.

Nobody actually knows what he excels at apart from dressing like a bell end.

At this moment in time he's the very first player that has to come in if we get even one injury, which is an utter disgrace. Same with Maupay and Calvert Lewin, Lonergan with Pickford and even Michael Keane is now automatically promoted to first choice. We don't even have a capable left back in the squad, never mind looking at back up in that position.

I would be massively surprised if any other team in the league had such an incredible drop off from first choice to first backup.

Dyche barely makes subs anyway.

Injuries though...

….nonsense.

When you buy better than you have it immediately improves the quality of the squad, even if you have limited budget. You upgrade the first team and it improves the bench. Bring in a good DM (we’ve been linked to a few at decent fees) and it could mean Gueye drops to the bench. Top down recruitement.

If we give contracts to poor players we don’t progress.

If Tom honours us in signing a new deal.

How should we 'celebrate'. ?

I suggest a massive firework display.

Tom Davies, Premier league footballer, fashionista and business entrepreneur… Take your rightful seat on the new board of directors and complete “operation fume”

Big choice for him would just be a squad role here a backup, is at an age now he needs to be playing games and to nail down his position in a team. If i was him i would move, what ever he picks wish him the best, is not up to the standard we need but tried his best. I blame the club for holding on to him instead of sending him out
