Frankly, we needed someone to take over for Osman at some point. With an aging squad (Barry, Osman, etc...) having younger players like Cleverley and Besic to step in makes me feel a bit better.

decent player and has potential played well for villa during last few games of the season. never had the grade to make it at united but can still become a half decent player for us.

The most annoying thing about Cleverley is I now have to support and like him, rather than slag him, Henderson and Wilshire off for keeping Ross on the bench. I'm looking forward to see what he can actually do for us now he's signed.

I'm happy this is over and done with early in the window.
Now he has time to settle, get to know the team and he'll be here for the pre-season which is a bonus.

People are moaning because, well, he's Cleverley.
The same people who moan when the squad is starting to look thin and stretched out in January.
Fact is, he has the potential to be a very capable squad player for us and he looked decent in a poor Aston Villa side.

It may not be a glamorous signing but it'll help the squad out enormously and Martinez could polish him up into something shiny.

If European football is the goal we need bodies and depth in the squad. Is Cleverley gonna dominate games? No. But it's sure better than playing someone who's gassed from midweek minutes.
