Liverpool confirmed an incident took place, although said there had been no arrests, and added investigations were continuing.

''An incident occurred in the second half of the match which is now being investigated by both the club and the police,'' said a statement. ''We will continue to work with the police to establish the details of what actually happened and will make a further statement in due course.''

Oldham manager Paul Dickov said he had not spoken to the player about the incident, but accepted something had upset him.

Seriously?? This is well beyond the usual level of Gobsh*tiness. Despicable.

Assuming that's true, then it's shocking.
Totally senseless. If one of our fans did that at Goodison I'd happily accept being thrown out of the cup.

I was watching it live, was really weird. Never seen anything like that in the Premier League before from what I recall

well that was clever by those soft gets, ruined the kids biggest game of his life more than likely , wonder what excuse they put on this one

it wuz Chelsea?
it's a term of endearment around here?

Please feel free to add any more.

Would you really? I imagine it's present within minorities across a lot of football clubs, it's just these dickheads (not supporters) at Anfield tonight were stupid enough to shout something right to him with Liverpool already under scrutiny. It's completely unacceptable but I don't think you can severely punish the club as a whole because they can't be held liable for some tosser deciding to turn up and act in such a way - it's beyond their control. I think it's much more appropriate to ban the individuals who did it.

I'm assuming you realise this was an isolated thing with 3 or 4 people doing it.
