The premier league has generated €7.1bn for the 22/23 season whilst the NHL for 2022 has just reached the $5bn due to a huge increase in rights from ESPN so with the current exchange rate there is a $2bn difference in the EPL’s favour and that a conservative estimate.

The link above suggests that the EPL’s true worth is just under $10bn which puts it roughly on a par with NBA and MLB.

The point still stands my guy. Yes perhaps the EPL might have overtaken the NHL but it's still behind the big 3 leagues in America.

This is a great idea imo. I think the English fans who are against this, are pretty stubborn and backwards and it's no wonder why football is so backwards on so many things such as introduction of basic technology such as VAR.

His reasoning is that the fans would hate it, so he does understand what it means to the fans.

Yes if he wanted to line his pockets better it is really the only thing to do. A lad earlier said football has been fine as is for 150 years and he's not wrong there. But what the billionaires have realized is that the sport has not been optimized for money making for about 125 of those years and they aren't interested in following those traditions when they can make more. That's why they're the worst.

An All Stars game is utterly anathema to this tribal sport of ours. It’s not at all what English (or even European) football is about.

That he doesn’t recognise that betrays a total lack of understanding of the sport and its fans.

No fans want to see it is wrong. People will talk about the American sports but a ton of people still watch those events. A global league like the PL will be able to find an interested market considering they already do for meaningless games every summer.

I think people need to start replacing "fans" with "I" when they say it isn't something worth watching.

Maybe if we split football into quarters, stopped the game for 2 minutes and plastered adverts all over the place every time the ball went out for a throw in, and had an hour long concert at half time, it would generate as much money as the NFL. I for one hope we do this. It is of course, all purely about money and not at all about enjoyment.

I'm with you Mike, but I don't think you've gone far enough, let's have 14 man teams and separate ones for attack and defense, get rid of hand ball so they can use their hands and introduce a system where each team takes turns to get to an imaginary line. Also change the fa Cup final to a better name, I'm thinking wondercup but there's gotta be a better version out there

Yes I forgot about that. Also let’s invent a position you can play where you never ever touch the ball once in your entire career, and are employed simply to just run into people and be a big fat mess, that way we can have a more inclusive sport and it also offers opportunities to sell more jerseys.

We also need to sell hotdogs in the stands to maximise profit and ultimately make the sport as enjoyable and competitive as possible.
