Robert Jarvis

Player Valuation: £35m
Well it was the mirror actually and a couple of things hit me.

!. Yak was given MOM at Leicester. Heis on a scoring spree for how long who knows. Bit he is scoring and I would say it is down to the style of football there compared to the crap fans have been seeing at GP. Yak was not given a chance always behind Saha and Beckford.

2. Moyes apparently talking stated that he would not sell his best players, no names given though.

3. Also quoted as saying he is looking for a forward, presumably meant striker.

Now that is where my blood boils. We just loaned out a striker with a view to sell, tried to loan out Vaughan but that failed so he is still here. We still have also Saha and Beckford plus if you like Anichebe.

Now for me the managers records on forwards/strikers is not very good, you know the players so a new forward? Who will drop out to make way, any offers? So when there is talk of a new forward I shudder. Could he mean a wide player so back to the bench for Bily or Coleman.

I just wish he would shut up and put upand get with managing the team better. If he wants to moan should go and knock on BKs bloody door.

I'm not surprised by how the Yak is doing.

I think he'd have done it for us too had he not found himself on the wrong end of the Moyes glare.

Why bring a striker in on loan when Yak would be about as good as any options out there?

I watched the Leicester Millwall game Yak is smiling and scoring but Millwall looked awful. Championship is miles apart for the Prem most of the time. Yak can not play in a Moyes 4-5-1 and is to slow and lazy. A good finisher but he has to play off someone.

I do agree about the best option instead of a loaner but we are saving his inflated wages at the moment. A new face could start the Landon Donovan effect like happened last year.

Regarding the Yak, don't you find it curious that only West Ham and Leicester were in for him? The fact that no one else jumped in makes me think maybe we'd overrated him.

I think yak plays for a few seasons then wants a move in saying that i would have kept him till summer then look at selling. At least if we do go down we know he will be ready for championship football.

Yak is a Static Footballer, like Berbatov. Moyes never plays to his players strengths but trys to make them play to his. We've seen it so many times down the years but it's just starting to hit me.

I agree with that, the first season Yakubu was here, I think we did play to his strengths, we stuck him up front and he barely came back to defend at all and he was scoring for fun. However as time has gone on he has been asked to do more defending and "work for the team", in doing this he has scored less goals and clearly he is not keen.

Give that man a medal, well done Tex.

I'm pleased for Yak doing well, but I don't think it's indicative of him being able to still cut it in the Prem. The debut goal, for example, he is given so much time and space in the penalty area. In the Premier League he's have been closed out much sooner. He's lost that half yard of pace he had in his first season with us, and after an achiles injury its to be expected. Yak wasn't happy here anymore, like he's done at previous clubs (at both Boro and Pompey he started on fire but quickly faded out and stopped putting the effort in). I think that Championship is a perfect level for Yak now and I hope he enjoys his football there.

FFS it's the Championship.

Beattie scored 13 goals in 76 games for us (one goal every 5.8 games).

Then he went to the Championship and scored 34 in 62 games (one goal every 1.8 games).

It's the Championship!

Exactly. The holes are wide open. He is feasting like Desperate Dan eating Christmas dinner.... knife and fork at the ready.

Same with Beckford...and Cahill...and most of the players we seemed linked with in terms of lower league players.

End of the day Yak is still our highest goal scoring post war striker. He was £13mill odd when we bought him...prices go up every year to a point that a goalscorer like Darren Bent is worth £24million.

Point Im getting at...we're not going to get a 20 goals a season striker for anything less than £10mill unless something surprising pops up. We dont have that cash.

So unless Moyes can get someone (which I doubt) losing Yak without even giving him a chance to find his form is a poor decision IMO.

I agree wholeheartedly we won't find anywhere near his pedigree for the money. But Davey doesn't seem to want to play to Yaks strengths so in some respects it's a catch 22. Yak won't prosper with us and hasn't this term but on the other hand there won't be any bigger name to darken our doors this season.
