I'd be panicking a bit if I were a Liverpool fan now. They just cant get themselves clear of the rivals for that fourth spot and they've had a fair wind behind them since Suarez came back and gave them all those goals. They're fortunate Moyes is such a failure that United are being held back for now, but I can see them going a spell picking up half the points on offer and us or Spurs are going to have a real purple patch and leave them with a lot to do.

They simply are not an elite squad of players. They were very lucky to face an Everton team severely weakened by players who really should have been in the treatment room and not on the pitch.

BTW, if Martinez was their manager, I would be VERY worried about their prospects with that decent level of player + wc striker and a load of money to spend. Rodgers v Martinez isn't even worth debating...the little Catalan magician is twice the manager that fraud is.

Once bitten twice shy doesn't hold true for you then

meh, they have an everton team behind them who seem to cock up whenever they get a chance of going 4th, a spurs team who have a fraud of a manager and then united well, they're losing too many games.

pretty sure they wouldn't have been expecting a top 4 push with that squad at the start of the season - the fans (deluded ones aside) will be pretty happy i'd gather.

still can't call 4th place tbh, will go right down to the wire.

....I think I'd settle to still be 2 points off 4th after the next round of games, considering we will have got 2 toughy away matches out of the way and players coming back from injury.

seeing how dreadful gerrard was when pressured shows up tuesday for the embarrassment it was, shouldn't be losing 4 nil to a rank average liverpool side

full strength team and we would have battered them like we did at goodison, that was the better indicator of who was the better team of the two - both teams at full strength that day.

it was the wrong time to play anybody - just our luck and theirs that it was the merseyside derby. it will probably be that bit of luck that's the difference between us and them for top 4 - we'll see. massive statement if we can get 3 points at spurs - totally doable, no point in dwelling on the past. we saw the fiight and bouncebackability this everton team has yesterday - which is encouraging.

I'm confident that by the time Martinez leaves us we'll have a Derby record during his time here to be proud of.

We went into that game last week in the middle of the worst injury crisis we'll face all season.
