Today’s Football 25/26 Season

It’s the nature of the beast tbh, mate. If you draw two in a row and fluke a 94th minute winner, you’re 3 unbeaten. If you concede in the 94th minute of that third game it’s a 3-game winless streak. Perception is everything.

Beat West Ham and we’re top 8 or so. Barry grabs a couple of tap-ins and we’ve got a firing striker. Beto comes off the bench and bags one for himself and we’re in dreamland. Fail to win and we’re bottom half with most of the best teams left to play.

In the latter scenario I’d defo be worried. Not relegation worried just yet, but worried that the shine has already gone after the Moyes appointment and we could be heading for yet more Jan/Feb upheaval, though.
You are right, I like to play devil’s advocate tbh
Ultimately, we’ll be sound but it will be a ride - appoint Moyes, get mediocre!

Rational me thinks we should slap them jellied eel gobblers and everything will look rosier for at least a couple more weeks. We’ve all got a bit of that Everton pessimism in us, though. As our old mate Sean might say, I can just *smell* that James Ward-Prowse free kick winner after we draw a blank despite having 24 shots on goal.

Bias towards/against who, mate?

VAR had the chance to rule out that Palace goal yesterday and didn’t. Then you imply that they’ve ruled out an Arsenal penalty today, to even that up. Seems like a lot more work for the match fixers, that?

Also people love to cry corruption against us. Why would any shadowy organisation need to make sure that Everton - a typically very crap team - lose games we’re more than capable of losing by ourselves?

People continue to talk about Man United being another team that Sky (because they’re also involved for some reason?!) and the PL look after, but they’re absolutely abysmal and finished just outside the relegation zone last year. It’s no hyperbole to say that if nothing changes there, and the promoted sides carry on as they are, United could very well be relegated this year. How would that fit in with your supposed claims of bias?

Once more: VAR has changed the game for the absolute worse. It is implemented when it’s not needed, and rules are consistently applied erratically. That doesn’t make it biased or corrupt, it’s just awfully thought out, executed even worse and lacks a true independent regulator to do anything about it.

I concede that I’m an old man. I know that conspiracies are just what people go to now, when anything at all doesn’t go their way. I should almost certainly just pipe down and let it pass me by. But obvs I’d rather spend my Sundays arguing on the internet.
I don't believe there is consistent corruption in every match or that there is a grand conspiracy against Everton don't think anyone on here does. So when Jesus handballs it intentionally and ref completely ignored it and gave Arsenal goal against us. It was an honest mistake, not a deliberate attempt to make last game more interesting. Haaland goes flying into back of Mykolenko gets and yellow, Allan trips up Newcastle player red card. Premier League corruption has nothing to do with Arsenal being bottlers or Beto missing chances. It does lead to Liverpool getting favourable decisions in most but nor all games.

You’ve basically called it!

We win and all is well with the world, we lose and the yellow sheet brigade step up

Don’t you just love it
