To Boo or not to Boo?

We'd all move for more money but - and THIS IS THE CRUX OF THE MATTER - he wasn't being exploited on slave wages. He took advantage.

If you were offered an amazing deal compared to a minimum wage scenario you too would tell your boss to shove his job. On the other hand when you're on a big screw a certain amount of loyalty and integrity is expected - especially when your employer has paid money to release you from your last job.

But then we're dealing with a moron whose Mr 15% smelt an opportunity.

Hmm.

Who's to say he has been offered more money at Newcastle? If that was solely the case, wouldn't we have matched the slight wage increase to keep a £4m asset at the club? - I can't see much of a difference in terms of wage offered regardless.

I'd say the likelihood is that it was first team football that appealed to him, and a four year contract...

Of course, all this would have been prevented if Everton had followed procedure. *cringe*

A little possible scenario for you Dan:

Gosling "Hi Boss, will you be giving me a new contract?"
Moyes "We'll sort something out soon Danny".
Gosling "But my other contract finishes soon boss".
Moyes "Don't worry son, let's get it done next week".

Danny gets injured .........

Gosling "Can we sort my contract now boss?"
Moyes "Look Danny, stop bugging me. Soon I said".
Gosling "But boss".
Moyes "Let's see how this injury mends. Don't worry though. Real soon son".

Newcastle "Hi Danny. Want a 4 year contract? We'll risk your injury and sign you anyway. You'll get a game".
Gosling "Boss? About my contract"
Moyes "Not now Danny. I'm busy with pre-season".
"Gosling " Hello. Is that Newcastle?"....................................

Not hard to imagine Dan surely mate.

Who cares? Its not like he was a key member of the squad. He's young and will most probably fall out of memory into the "where did that lad go who scored that goal against the RS in the FA Cup?" while he ploughs his trade in the championship.

He's not even gonna be fit till Crimbo at least either.

This, not losing any sleep over Dan 'Skunky' Gosling here.

I don't think we'll suffer without Goose. If he wanted to be at Goodison and be part of what we have, he would have stayed, simple as. Anyone who can have their head swayed so easily imho lacks a moral compass and the determination to do anything much in football. Maybe a tad annoyed we lost out on a possible transfer fee, but there's no shortage of hungry up and coming players who will be seeing this to break into the first team.

Good luck, Goose, but I suspect the day will come where you look back at your career and see this as a definite wrong turn.
