Waking up next to a Moose is half the fun mate.

You have to have the skills of a secret agent to be able to find your clothes, get dressed in silence and leave the house without waking anyone up. Even worse if it's a shared house.

* you must be in the minority for your age though ?

Very true, it all adds to life experiences.

But yeah I do feel like a minority seen as I have no tattoos or swish haircut

Jizz on my back azul you dirty whore.

I was under the impression that not being able to speak German would be a big minus point. I work in construction management so lots of emails, phone calls, technical info etc... I would seriously consider living there though. I'd happily try and pick up the language too.

Loads of beautiful girls in Berlin. I was impressed.

Negative.

Aye in some professions you can't get away with it, and always better to be able to speak the language. But plenty of people survive here without it.

ffs lol

also it's much less affordable than it used to be largely thanks to everyone now wanting to live here.

my first flat in 2007 cost €330 warm in now-trendy weserstraße, the very same flat now goes for over €600.

i've sinced moved to a 5-room place in köpenick but even that's affected by the trend: i'm paying twice as much as the old-timers here for the same flat.

the problem of course is that wages have stagnated, the old objective that warm rents should be a third of net wage has been destroyed.

it's a big topic of discussion among locals...as a result there's loads more WG's (flat shares) springing up as working class locals who need to move can't now afford their own flat, and international newcomers who can't speak german often struggle as most Berliners (who make up most of the workforce at housing associations, estate agents and local authorities) can't and won't speak much english.

Yeah but still relatively affordable at the moment given its stature as a city and compared to other parts of Germany nicht war? though I guess that will change soon enough

aye. there's lots of pockets of turkish, english, spanish, arabic, italian, chinese, indian, african etc who can't speak much german but still live here. it can be done if one is so inclined (i lived in prague half-a-year and barely spoke 20 words). plus many germans consider it a badge of honour to be able to speak english.

and german's a dying language anyway, looking longer-term.

still after saying all that, right now anyone who can speak it has a considerable work & flat-seeking advantage.

regarding other cities, berlin's now roughly on-par with most of them...it's no longer 'poor but sexy'. far cheaper rents can be found in less trendy cities like Leipzig, Bremen, Magdeburg, Karlsruhe and the hundreds of Kleinstädte like Pirmasens, Hameln, Meißen and the rest.

berlin's now more like hamburg, münchen, köln in terms of affordability.

Or (finding she's moved in for a cuddle and fell asleep) have the ability to bite your own arm off in silence.

Much better to nudge her awake with your morning wood and work off the hangover with a bout of half asleep morning sex. The degrading feeling when seeing them in the harsh light of sobriety makes it all the more fun.

For those with flimsy self confidence. A house of cards of sleeve tattoos, multiple hair cuts, lad bible bantz and True Religion jeans.

They can't keep a bird for good reason, they're dead inside and confuse lust with love. All the best birds swerve finding a lad with an app. The plimsole wearing beauts will work it out when it's too late.
lol
Wonderfully put as usual

Really? Would never have thought that. Especially Munich.

Hahaha, some brutally honest parenting here. Well in lid. He'll grow out of it.

The country has failed this generation and despite it all I like them, they're articulate, witty and self depreciating. It's just more fun to goad them.

aye...rents doubling in less than 10 years will do that to a place.

you live here or have lived here? in my recent move i needed to keep to less than €10 per sqm warm...the only places that were ok were coming from Marzahn, Spandau and Köpenick, even then it took a full year of solid searching 'til i bagged one.

Another example: i moved into a Gesundbrunnen flat in 2013 which was about bang-on €10 (€695 for 70qm). When i moved out this spring i was told because of its price-class it's now become a 'sozial Wohnung' (bit like a council flat). I was told it's too cheap for the normal market. In 2008 the same flat cost less than €500 warm (normal open market price).

The market values have sped up at unhealthy rates while wages remain stagnant. The odd bargain rent in a central Bezirk will get up to a hundred viewings (with most applying).
