The Islamic problem can probably only be solved one way: by the Muslim community. The more the west (us) tries to sort it/them out, the more it will give ammunition to the firebrand clerics, who in turn poison the mind of the weaker individuals in the Muslim communities.

Only Islam/Muslims can truly sort this out for themselves, and for the rest of us.

But for me, that's the conundrum: I don't really see them actually achieving it. I genuinely don't. Whats the alternative? A crusade against Islam? Nukes?

THIS, I have been saying that the only people who can stop this are muslims. No radicalised muslim "terrorist" is going to listen to a yank,jew or any other non-muslim.

The issue seems to be the lack of genuine efforts from moderate muslims and imams in condoning the bloodshed. There may be a few mutterings here and there and a few protests but for the 1.2 billion muslims in the world they are not seen to do enough in denouncing the crimes by ISIS/IS etc.

What are they supposed to do? Of course Muslims condemn these radical groups, but they are as influential as we are. Don't forget, ISIS and other similar terrorist organisations kill more Muslims than non-Muslims.

The recent history of Afghanistan and the CIA creation of the Mujahadin, its funding, arming, propaganda fuelling tactic to get Russia embroiled in its own Vietnam was a tactic of ideals that is either A. Still ongoing or B. Somethingvthat ran out of control.

Maybe the Islamic communities could and would sort this sorry mess out, perhaps if they weren't so intertwined and dependent upon the economic activity of the west, a mutual situation based on resources and strategic positioning, that the West itself can never walk away from.

There are a lot of ideas and claims there with little explanation or evidence. I'm not dismissing your ideas, just hard to understand without your putting forth examples / evidence .

In the past people defended Islamic atrocities by blaming the west for bombing their countries yet time and time again western born and educated Muslims are commiting the same attacks. Their families weren't bombed, they weren't 'oppressed'. It takes very little to turn a 'moderate' into a fanatic when your holy book and hadiths are so full of violence and savagery that your idol the greatest human that ever lived commited

Fair enough. People I speak to think it should be more vociferous. As I said, the radicals will only listen to muslims. In order to stop the bloodshed ALL non-violent muslims need to speak up otherwise it will just continue unabated.

It is no great secret that the CIA funded the Mujahadin when they were some herdsmen with rifles. It is no great secret that ISIS was formed from the opponents of Assad, funded by US agencies.

The import of jihadis is a relatively new phenomena promoted and made rampant by social media, yet Israel imports conscripts for the IDF by proxy without comment.

You would do well to understand properly the use of 3 holy books at the same time all interpreted as the situation dictates, all used to judtify murder aggression, child killing and mutilation genocide etc, etc the Torah, the Bible and the Q'uran, all have a common ancestry, and intent. I very much am open minded, no reason to have a closed mind and I know America funds certain groups to destablise a region if they feel it can benefit themselves in some way.

This does not refute my assertion that Islam needs reform nor does it make America solely accountable for groups like Isis or all problems in that region.
