wessels - abominable, decision making, kicking, handling, communication, all pathetic. -1.

hibbert - good tackling, good tenacity, abominable use of the ball, tried to overlap and get forward but averages one good cross a game, against oldhams grocks our small players just didnt have a chance - and stop throw ins to pienaar, hes 5 foot 4 inches and wont be winning many aerial battles - if i can see it in minute one, why cant you see it by minute 70. 2 out of 10.

stubbs - tried hard, tried to drive the side forward, especially second half, but occasionally lost out - doesnt have the quick feet, pace or passing skill to make something from nothing. out muscled a few times, not least in the corner by hughes - not match sharp. generous 5 out of 10.

jagielka - won headers, lost out on the deck too often to hughes, out muscled and out thought by a bloke thats just back from a long stretch in prison (not long enough for his crime, but thats not football). passing not noticeably abhorrent but a few lapse moments and poor clearances. same as stubbs, 5 out of 10.

baines - not match sharp, struggled to find his own game, and struggled to get involved in the general play, cant remember and quality left foot deliveries, didnt have much defending to do, for all oldhams thud and blunder it was mostly long balls aimed at hughes to help them weather the storm. 5 out of 10.

now we get to the prize pigs of this debacle, midfield.

pienaar - jaded, and just too many games, is only small so gets his share of knocks, especially when the entire burden of creativity and feeding the striker/s is his burden exclusively. he popped up left and right mid, tried to make some passes and kept plugging away, was unlucky a few times the ball didnt run for him or find its way to its intended recipient. best midfielder today, although that wasnt difficult to manage. 6 out of 10.

carsley - is a tryer, and does his DM job excellently in a 4-5-1, but today in the 4-4-2 versus oldhams grocks and with only midgets to aim at cars passing was found out. passing sideways is fine, world class at passing backwards, but to score goals means going forward, either carry it forward or pass it forward - guilty of lumping it forward to no one on occasions - not the worst midfielder today - missed cahills tenacity and sheer bloody mindedness in front of him. 4 out of 10.

mcfadden - this display on any other day would have been the abject worst witnessed, but this was no ordinary game, this kid was woeful, passes astray? rubbish, couldnt pass the pepper when sat at the dinner table, an unbelievable waster - touch too heavy, powered the ball forward when soft lighht passes were needed, then was too soft and flowery when a strong quick pass was needed, its rare to see a more woeful performance at a weekend, but today his danish midfield counterpart showed him how bad football can be played...mcfadden -2 out of 10.

here he is, and what a guy, gravesen - quit football, quit life, just give up like you did today, nine passes in ten went to oldham, every second on the field was an abortion from gravesen today, a disgusting travesty of a player on todays evidence, one half decent free kick does not warrant a weeks work. three or four times hibbert or jags turned the ball over in defence and played it to gravesen who simply walked away from the ball allowing oldham to pick up running at the defence - it was a spectacle of novice like incapability the sort i thought had been eradicated with polio. gravesen doesnt deserve to be judged along with any other players on the field, or in the country - take mcfadden with you back to celtic with my scathing criticism. possibly the worst footballing performance it has ever been my misfortune to witness. just quit.

johnson - ran around, tried but with no service due to a piss poor midfield had to survive on scraps, vaughans headers started ok but went down hill quite fast, chasing into the corners is ok when arteta can be found to get a cross into cahill and yak, but that wasnt the game plan today. lots of endeavour, little to no end product. 5 out of 10.

vaughan - started like lightning, but let his head drop, or was weighed down by the gravity of the black hole performance by gravesen. struggled against a well marshaled and committed oldham defence. 4 out of 10.

lescott, yakubu and anichebe were thrown on in the last 25 minutes give or take, a throw of the dice that almost payed off, all acquitted themselves well enough, good to see the ball stick with anichebe and he strengthed the ball about with his passes, but it was too little to late, this game was lost when we didnt score in the first 15 minutes.

moyes - all eggs in the carling cup basket, its a brave decision, i hope it pays off, because like bowing out in similar fashion to blackburn in a similarly amateur fashion, this was embarrassing and shouldnt have been allowed to happen.

support was poor, 33k total. Oldham sang and chanted and crowed all game, but the evertonians remained silent, the gaping ineptitude of the players on the pitch, specifically Gravesen, Mcfadden, Wessels, and Hibbert was just galling, and im sure played a part in stunning the support to silence.

if gravesen plays versus chelsea, i will be very surprised, and if he does play he better try hard and get his brain in gear because another show like against oldham should retire him.

disgusted.

Well put SB,they were the 4 players i picked out!! utter shiite. would be suprised to see them playing sunday league hairy arse footy!! theiir not good enough.

Arteta deserves a mention as well, second half, we had a corner on the left, and the person taking it was the ball boy - no one went to take it, it took a crowd roar of disapproval for someone to jog across to take it.

every player in blue was looking round for mikel.

also, rennie, how many times did an oldham player go down, then have the game stopped, then get up and hobble off the pitch so the game could continue only for uriah to then call on the physio to further disrupt the game as he jogged across the pitch instead of allowing play to go on whilst the physio ran round the edge of the pitch.

the non stop amatrurishness of this pillock never fails to amaze.

inept, myopic, and down right backward. been hanging around with clattenburg, atkinson and webb too much. [Poor language removed].

Funny that you **** Faddy off. I mean I think we should sell him. But Horne and Danny both said that Faddy was the best player on the park in the first half.

Strange how pre-conceived opinions can cloud one's judgement.

What they ment was stanley park, or sefton park fishing. Heard he's a good angler..........:D

what a complete load,

clouded judgement?

pre-conceived opinions?

when did you last agree with anything horne has to say?

where was dan sat? i was parkend and mcfadden was infuriating, he only dodged more flack because there was definately one if not two other players on the pitch that showed his pathetic play in a light that at times made him look like peles younger and much more skillful half brother.

gravesen on saturday would have made douglas bader look a world class footballer.

saturday was that bad, he was the most rotten of a bunch of rotten eggs.

i'd like him to pull his thumb out and start producing, but saturday showed a distinct lack of heart. never an accusation i thought i could legitimately level at gravs.

as for munny, he made his bed, hes an adult and has to take responsibility for his actions and the actions of those whose hands he put his career in.

poetic justice that hes on the skids at valencia now.

Once again SB spot on, he gets what he deserves.....Poetic justice indeed.

An chico as for graversen. You would had to have been their to belive how shiite he was. I kid you not, it was one of the most woefull performances iv ever seen from a midfielder. Carsley looked like pele next to him. Awfull, absolutely awfull.

An for anyone to say mcfadden was the best player on the park???????

Sorry to hear lads, Id be gutted if I went.

Gravesen has been gash for Celtic last year so its come as no surprise. You cant blame Moyes for getting in an extra body at late notice given the circumstances.

Which brings me onto Fernandes, Im surprised at the support he still has. What a forgiving lot we are? All for a couple of bits of jazzy skill.

What he done was the action of a bad snide, and dont blame his agent or whatever. He employs them, he could have told them where to go.

We can do better, and we will.

You know what i feel about this beaut chico. Id hate to see him back. Not just because of what he done but because he wasnt that good anyway. as iv said before, 10 or 20 mins a game does not fit in with us.

Their are plenty more gifted players out their, did anyone know of arteta or pienaar before moyes brought them in?? Lets forget this snide an get alpiah in.

Appiah would be sound, Arshavin would make me explode.

A loan is more likely, Moyes will do what needs to be done. I dont want to turn into a Geordie and start the wish list thing.

appiah has knee knack at the moment, but would be perfect for a summer signing.

really, if we can get fernandes on loan as a stop gap - would it be that bad?

Or do you want to see jags, neville, cars and VDM chug about in midfield?

we are short of recognisable midfielders.

There's not many better options then Fernandes.

He's one of the best young midfielders in the world.
