Half watching the Red****e at the mo and have to admit for the first time in years, they look like a decent side. My point is though that with teams like our lovable ******** neighbours, Citeh and so on with stacks of pace and flair throughout the team it might be time to accept a return to a brand of footy akin to the Dogs of War. What Royle did there was make up for our blatant lack of skill and pace by simply making us hard to beat and if we won, we won 1-0. We snapped at teams, stifled them and kicked them off the park if necessary.

How many of us would accept that ideology for a couple of seasons while we try and settle things down, bring a few youngsters through and try and get ourselves sold?

It may work but we have no Carsleys, Unsworths, Weirs, Stubbs etc to do it for us. We're weak and have no leaders. I'd love to think another 04/05 is possible though.....

I'd go further than saying Liverpool look decent, they look very good. If we played them i could imagine us getting stuffed in both derby games at the moment.

Liverpool wont keep this up. Coaches will sort out how Suarez moves and defenders will contain him eventually. It happened with Torres - no one could stop him and then every defence managed him by the last season he had with Liverpool...even before his injury. They have quality in midfield, but I'd be interested to see how they cope with Stevie Me back in the fold. He's going to go central and who makes way for him and what does that mean for their fluidity etc etc? At the back they have the same CB pairing's like Skrtel and Agger who look as ropey as fcuk when the pressure's on; Carragher is not an asset anymore and the likes of Flanagan and Kelly have a long way to go to prove themselves.

I'd still see them as favourites for 5th spot, tbh. Many more Sunderland at homes for them to come this season.

Dogs of War ........ WHAT A LOAD OF ****, they were well able to play ball and in Kanch n Limpar they had magic that will never be seen under Moyes as his ethos is defend first and foremost.

I just want us to play some positive, attacking football. The players we have are better than Moyes gives them credit for, judging by how defensively he sets them out.

Totally agree, we set ourselves up to nullify the opposition and not break them down ...... hence when we play a team with the same approach we fail miserably. Our movement off the ball is nil, just triangles going nowhere. Our striker (no need for plural under DM) is often isolated and left chasing lost causes.

I hate the phrase 'positive football.' I've heard so many Citeh supporters complain about Mancini playing a 'negative brand of football,' but, well, they're in the champions league now...Look at Stoke City, for example. You'll not find a more hated style of play then sitting behind the ball and waiting for a setpiece, but they've not only stayed in the premiership, but are in European competition because of their 'negative play.' If it takes a Rory Delap style to succeed, then so be it. I'm not saying we should strive to be Stoke, but let's face it, we're not Barcelona, and we haven't the funds to build a squad like Man City/United or even the RS. COYB, make 'em fight for it.

We invented that plan.

Its Plan A. Kick off. Back to Hibbo/Neville and BOOT.

No idea after plan A fails.

Who's a physical player on our side? Neville maybe, Fellani, Distin. That's it. You want to see us go dogs of war well Liverpool has often goaded our side into a physical match. It usually ends with a Liverpool win and a broken leg from someone on our side.
