Time for Plan B ?

Player Valuation: £20m
Buying no first team players this summer isn't an option.

Moyes has to refresh the aging squad and strengthen our strikeforce. Failure to do this could have serious consequences : players may start to lose confidence in the club; Fellaini won't sign a new contract; and so on.

Plan A (so it seems to me) was to sell off Yakubu, Yobo and Vaughan for decent enough prices to give Moyes a transfer budget of £10m plus, while hopefully picking up a striker like Klose or Ba free or on a loan, leaving Moyes just enough leeway to pursue targets like N'Zogbia. This plan is now on its last legs.

So what's Plan B ? I've no inside information on this. But the obvious road to go down is to see who else we can sell without compromising the team too much. My hunch is that we could see Rodwell leave by the end of July.

Sell Yakubu, Yobo, Fellaini and Rodwell. A good £30-40m to spend after whatever neccessary debt payments are taken into consideration.

If we sold Rodwell and Fellaini? There is no way you could sell both, that would be crazy! Buy Donovan and move Coleman to RB and Neville back into the middle next to Heitinga.........that sort of thing really wouldn't be a step forward, that would be madness.

Most we would get for Rodwell is 10-12 million, whereas Felli would fetch us 20-25M, enough to get a replacement and a decent winger,Nzogbia. The money we get from Yak,Yobo,,vag and whoever, could go towards a qualilty stricker.Would we even need a replacement for Felli,Arteta and rodwelll or osman/johnny as cover.

Why would you sell Fellaini and Rodwell then go and buy a replacement in an inflated market?? Just madness I tells you!! I just can't see you sell Fellaini to replace him with Defour etc would make any sense at all considering it may take a season and a half for them to adapt (if they ever did) to the PL? I just find that logic utterly flawed

I believe that Fellaini is replaceable for £10m or so, anything extra we get on him is money toward another player, to increase the quality of our squad because as it stands the best we can manage is a repeat of last season with perhaps an extended cup run.

Selling Rodwell too, along with Yobo and Yakubu and one or two others would see Moyes have a good £30m+ to spend this summer. I'm not going to do the whole Football Manager thing, but with £30m+ i feel we could get 3 or 4 top young talented players. The way i see it to have any chance of really building a squad capable of challenging the top six, we need to sell our assets. If we don't make Europe next year, expect Baines to go as well, and if the long-awaited take over hasn't happened by then, thats how we'll get our funds to rebuild, by selling those assets.

yak and yobo have to go , but if we still need to raise more money im guessing arteta would be the first to go from the midfeild.
rodwell and fellaini have age more on there side and both will arguable be worth more in a few years.arteta will only drop in value.but he is too good a player to lose imo.

personally i think the next easiest position to sell and cope with the loss would be in defence. either jags or heitinga.but the trouble is i like both these players and cant see how the money raised from a sale will get any better player in there position.

so then we have the choice of players who havent staked a claim to a starting place ..... heitinga , bily , anichebe , hibbert and osman........ i can see 3 of that 5 being sold , if needed.

I don't agree. Apart from the fact that Heitinga and Osman both started nearly every game since January, I can't see Everton wanting to sell 3 players who are integral to the current squad. There's a real togetherness about the team that's worth preserving, and too much activity in the transfer market is both expensive and disruptive. That's why I think Plan B involves identifying just one player whom we can sell to raise some money.

Replace Fellaini for 10m? Who would you buy? I'm interested as I rate Fellaini around 20m in this market maybe more

2 consecutive seasons Felli has missed large parts due to the same ankle injury I'd say personally no club would give us 25& million for him , his ankles are going to be a problem for him with his lanky frame and skinny legs , but I would keep him anyway , Rodwell on the other hand if we could raise a decent Fee with young Barkley in the background > this could be a goer IMO
