Time for a rethink... and a role for Barkley ?

Don't think this is the issue - YET.
The way Spurs were set up this game should of been end to end. non stop.
They left a lot of space to play in, our lads just didn't take advantage of it.
The question is why.
Our lads were outclassed not just by quality, but were swamped by a confident team with players who know each others game, who know how to execute a game plan together. Pochettino and Eriksen exploited Everton's lack of team experience perfectly.
Anyone who's played football knows the feeling. The first thing you lose is confidence in the players around you. Then you make a mistake and your confidence is shot. You stop playing football. I'm amazed they kept it professional, didn't resort to hacking, got a red card or two. Well at least until the Wazza lost it near the end, god bless him.
The link between defence and midfield was very poor.
Williams passing and vision is a real problem. In a back four with the right guys and setup around him he is a good, dare I say, top defender. But he just doesn't fit into this team. (Moshiri and Co should be doing whatever they can to convince VVD to come to Goodison)
Ghana passing and vision is also poor or just not consistent enough.
Baines gives quality but not the drive out of the back he used to.
Martina is lost as a defender and drains the confidence of players around him.
Scneids needs a consistent group of players around him to be effective, he needs to dribble more and not be so predictable.
The movement from one side to the other is ponderous, not quick enough, not helped by triangle play on the wings being very average.

I think RK should give Baines and Lookman some time on the left together. Baines can do the orchestrating and Lookman the running. Show him the ropes. Put Sig inside and Vlasic covering.
I'd bring in Kenny on the other side with CL ahead, with Rooney inside leading the play. Ghana covering behind.
Sneids in the middle, ahead of Jags and Keane bossing the box.

Lookman-----Sig--------Rooney---------CL
---------Vlasic-----Scneids------Ghana-----
Baines--------Jags--------Keane------Kenny

Play more down the left allowing Rooney to take up CF and give CL space to play.
When the team is settled, bring in Klassen for Ghana who has better ball distribution and better overlap option in the half space.

1 more match to go - Utd. Then they'll start to settle, express themselves and bring the confidence.

The old 4-3-4 formation, you are a tactical genius!

But it does show the problem of balance amongst the 6.8.10.
Vlasic may prove to be a really good signing if he can defend through the centre - a better option than Ghana with the ball.
Schneids and Vlasic behind Sig and Rooney through the centre might be worth a go.
