Everton are eyeing New York Red Bulls defender Tim Ream.

Everton boss David Moyes has asked goalkeeper Tim Howard about his USA teammate and been urged to consider moving for the young centre-half.

Ream is enjoying an outstanding Gold Cup campaign and has won great praise from club teammates Thierry Henry and Rafael Marquez.

"Tim has attracted attention from clubs across Europe," said Ream's agent, Patrick McCabe.

"Ultimately, he wants to play in Europe, but we'll take things step by step."

Everton face competition from PSV Eindhoven for Ream.

Dunno if it is true, but what i could find he looks a good prospect for the future and he is a lefty so can be a replacement for distin.

Tim Ream is a good defender but he is not premiership quality just yet. I watch the MLS quite alot and he is superb there but i watched the US freindly with Spain recently and he was taken apart by the spanish strikers and i feel he was to blame for a couple of the goals.

He would be suited to one of the lesser european leagues but it would take him quite a while to get used to the prem.

Ha ha bet me to it how sad/old are we!

He is on the telly all the time pontificating the possibilities of the universe (the keyboardist that is) and it was the theme tune to President Blair's iron grip on the country and its finances. Maybe we might be linked to Kenneth Cobain next.

I like Tim but I don't like him for Everton.

He's also not enjoying a "stellar Gold Cup campaign." I don't mean to say he doesn't have a bright future, but I don't see it happening in the premiership. I would assume a work permit would be impossible as well.

He needs playing time, and right now he will not get playing time in the Prem. He is just not there yet. He has potential.

Ream just made his first real entree into the USMNT. He needs time.

Although Everton are heavy in the same type of player, go get Bradley FFS. Villa refused to take him on a permanent so now he's back to Borussia Monchengladbach where they're obviously not super keen on keeping him either. Bradley's young and quite solid as a CM.

Glad someone said this. The US started with a CB partnership of Goodson and Ream and it really didn't work super well. Since then, Ream has been on the bench with Bocanegra partnering with Goodson and things have solidified in the back. Not saying Ream isn't good, just saying that his Gold cup has not been good.

I have hardly seen him play, so I can't make a call on his worthiness of EFC or not, but I'd lean toward "not yet" at least. Here is a spot where I'd trust Howard's recommendation to Moyes though. If Howard recommends him, and Moyes wants him, I'm all for it.

Left footed center half, 20 years old.. If true it's obviously a future signing to replace Distin..

I like Ream personally.. Bus loads of potential.

Very polished with the ball...will be great. He's still pretty inexperienced though and has some things to work on. Question is can we afford to let him learn his trade?
