He did that to send is love out to the Flood victims as well as the "Call me" sign with his Fingers to tell people to call and donate money for the victims. He said it when he was interviewed after the game.

Gough and Durham were trying to instigate some discussion on TalkSport last night, saying Everton fans must be livid at Cahill, the clubs top scorer going off to the Asian Cup to play the likes of India.

Cue Evertonians emailing (not phoning at £6 a minute) saying they are very proud of Cahill committing to his national side and that he'd fly round the world to play for them with no hesitation. Also that he brings this attitude to our club and is a role model to young professionals on how they should conduct themselves for their country and club...

I think that pretty much sums it up. I haven't seen one post or thread on here moaning that he is off playing India in a nothing tournament or anything like that. We've all just got on with it, and wish him luck and a safe return...

That's pretty cool. I feel like such an idiot. Here all along I was thinking he was sending out love to all the Aussie moms who lost their babies to dingos.

People have 'discussed' it, I give you that. But the only negative repsonses were because the rest of the players were not doing too well, and fans felt we desperately needed him to keep carrying the team. A couple of good results and displays, and it's all quiet on the Cahill front. I have no problem with him doing International duty at all. Everton should be able to survive without a player, even if he is scoring all our goals..lol
