2025/26 Tim Iroegbunam

It might be a match experience thing, I've pointed out previous that when he tires mentally he's more likely to throw a sloppy challenge in. Yesterday that wonder tackle was about 84 minutes. It might be that he's learning full match concentration stamina. If he can apply himself without the breaks in focus he could be very useful, not seen a lot of him actually dictating any play of spraying balls wide or fizzing snap shots off on goal. We need a bit of muscle in midfield for when we meet more physical sides.
Played well yesterday didn't he? Can't say I remember anything apart from their penno. 9pm kick off on a Saturday here was way too late for my drunken brain

I don’t think you’ve ever watched him play. He’s excellent at taking the ball under pressure because he has a good touch and he’s very strong. He can also dribble past a press. I’ve seen him do it numerous times this season so this idea that he’s just a destroyer is complete nonsense. He needs to be more ambitious in his passing but he the tools. He’s an all round midfielder.

2 thirds at the moment, it will come down to reaching that final piece of the puzzle.
Which isn't really one you can teach..

Just got to hope it is somewhere in his locker.

I’ve not seen a player I think can stand out in a team that has more possession , he looks like a player who plays better without the ball, bit like doucoure, though he’s a better player than him.

But having 30% possession probably suits him.

Not a massive amount of minutes but solid defensive numbers so far.

Yeah I do think he’s more comfortable than Gana for example at receiving in tight spaces and carrying it.

He definitely struggles with concentration with his passing, if not his execution as well.

I think he’s got goals in him though in comparison to Gana.

There’s possibly a player in there but I still think the jury is well out.

But he’s nothing like them? Like I said, he’s already had a championship loan, he’s 22 and has been knocking around senior football for years. We’ve also loaned young players out (dowell, Kenny, ledson, Onyango etc etc) who shockingly haven’t magically turned into top class players purely by virtue of playing league football. Weird.

Most of them were given chances though. Kenny was earmarked to be 1st choice right back after his loan in Germany. Dowell had an excellent year in the championship and we never cashed in thinking he'd make it.

Harrison Armstrong is currently flying at Preston with people saying we should pull him back.

What's your point? Tim is clearly a premier league level player already. He's played well for us whenever called upon this season apart from the Newcastle game. The last thing he needs is another loan.

Tim and Big Mick Kegger were by far our stand-out players on Saturday night. Both solid.
Tim is very comfortable on the ball, has the ability to turn and get forward and is strong in the tackle. The swap with Villa was an excellent bit of business for us.
"Has the ability to"

Very rarely does so !

The thing is,
this is a make or break season for Tim at 22. 23 at the end of the season, if you aren’t a regular for a team expected to finish 14th to 10th at best. Then I don’t think you even will be

I think you’re re-writing history a bit there, Dowell had a very good period of about 3 months at Forest, when the team struggled he faded too , continued to glide around midfield looking classy but not willing to apply himself to the fight going on. Dowell had more natural talent than Gordon , but he wasted it through lack of application unlike Gordon.

Iroegbunam has lots of areas he can improve on but he’s not going to learn it in the Championship at his age. Anyway, the bottom line is he’s the type of player Moyes likes - “ go out and give me 100% , tackle everything that comes your way”, there’s no way he’s going to be loaned out by Moyes.

Moyes will find any possible reason and excuse to start Gana over him.

So i wouldnt be too critical if hes in/out but looks ready as a potential starter for next season.
