2025/26 Tim Iroegbunam

Hes started 8 games for us this season and come on in 7 others. Im not sure why we’d assume he’d have learnt more making 12 starts for West Brom than doing that to be honest, it seems a stretch.

Because we've always done the same and we churn out Rodwell's and Davies instead.

He is starting in a Premier League team who are currently mid table, I think that probably is his potential fulfilled. He’ll improve in that he’ll become more consistent at this level, but he doesn’t need to go on loan to do that.

Jimmy Garner played near 100 games by 22 on loan at Watford and Forest.

But he’s nothing like them? Like I said, he’s already had a championship loan, he’s 22 and has been knocking around senior football for years. We’ve also loaned young players out (dowell, Kenny, ledson, Onyango etc etc) who shockingly haven’t magically turned into top class players purely by virtue of playing league football. Weird.

Exactly, he’s played in the Championship lots already. It will be a piece of piss for him now and he’ll learn nothing that will improve him as a player. He needs game time in the prem in a settled team.

I believe i also said that he looks like a destroyer.

He lacks positional sense and passing ability and used to be a player who ran up the pitch with the ball.

I thought you may have disagreed.
I’ve not seen a player I think can stand out in a team that has more possession , he looks like a player who plays better without the ball, bit like doucoure, though he’s a better player than him.

But having 30% possession probably suits him.

I don’t think you’ve ever watched him play. He’s excellent at taking the ball under pressure because he has a good touch and he’s very strong. He can also dribble past a press. I’ve seen him do it numerous times this season so this idea that he’s just a destroyer is complete nonsense. He needs to be more ambitious in his passing but he the tools. He’s an all round midfielder.

Perfect summary and Moyes has said similar about his need to be more progressive with his passing

Not a massive amount of minutes but solid defensive numbers so far.

some challenge late on!

Strange player Tim, sometimes looks great sometimes looks like he’s never played football.

But for me, his position is the LEAST forgiving in the game, you can’t have an off game. There is some real potential in him, he could genuinely become our Gana replacement if he continues to develop
Fast with tackle and will turn with ball and run at opposition. Thats nice! Good to see he has Man of the Match here.

It might be a match experience thing, I've pointed out previous that when he tires mentally he's more likely to throw a sloppy challenge in. Yesterday that wonder tackle was about 84 minutes. It might be that he's learning full match concentration stamina. If he can apply himself without the breaks in focus he could be very useful, not seen a lot of him actually dictating any play of spraying balls wide or fizzing snap shots off on goal. We need a bit of muscle in midfield for when we meet more physical sides.
