2025/26 Tim Iroegbunam

He'd had a great season on loan in the championship before returning to Villa where he was well down the pecking order so barely got a look in. He was a signing of potential and the PSR thing was just an added bonus.

If he really was just a balance sheet signing we'd have shipped him straight out on loan like Villa did with Dobbin, who looks like he's found his level now at Preston.

Iroegbunam was well worth a punt at the price, but he's had ample opportunity to show he's a Premier League player and done nothing to suggest he is. Hopefully Rohl can stay fit because we're gonna need him when Gana goes to AFCON.

Tim , sadly, is simply no where near good enough to play regular first team PL.football.

I suppose you could just about justify him coming on for 10 minutes at the end of a game I you need a bit of physicality in midfield but honestly he's a championship player and should be out the door in January or the summer.

The best situation would have been to loan him out to a championship side.

A good season developing he either transitions to playing a contributing role here or it increases his value for us to sell, to assist with PSR.

All it does playing for us is diminishes his trade value and make him less appealing to other teams.

Madness but Josh Brownhill would have fulfilled that role as squad player.
