2025/26 Tim Iroegbunam

For me, the reason why Armstrong went on loan and not Tim, was because Tim needs more careful coaching. We know he can be dynamic, get around the pitch and shrug off challenges, but it is his tactical and decision making that needs work.

If Moyes and co can get him to take on board the guidance required to become a more rellaible player, we've got a decent squad option on our hands for a relatively small outlay.

Amazing how 1 game has people go from 'can't start him under any circumstances' to 'will miss him Saturday now

Maybe we should stop being so reactionary. Contrary to what I've seen some people say, I don't think yesterday was actually Tim's best game for us. Not saying he didn't play well as he did, but in my view Tim has actually put in a handful of really good performances since joining us going as far back as early fixtures last season.

He's had games as well where he looks lost but lets be fair, shouldn't be that shocked that he struggled against Newcastle's midfield in a game where the whole team was way off it.

I agree with you mate. Plus, he’s only 22, I can’t remember us ever having a 22 year old CM who was consistently good.

From The Athletic:

'Iroegbunam, in particular, was much improved, using his athleticism to track runners and stop opposition attacks despite an early booking. He made seven tackles, seven interceptions and won nine of his 13 ground duels. “Fair play lad, you’ve got some cojones to be able to keep going in when you’re on a yellow,” Dewsbury-Hall told him afterwards.'

Far too much sensible and reasoned logic here

Spot on his best game for us
think big up to moyes and staff who ithink must have worked with him between games
is 22 and time to improve into a smart MF

I've seen games where he has done more impressive things on the ball but yesterday was the most complete performance. Even Caicedo struggled at first following his move to Chelsea. Midfield is the hardest position to play on the pitch and sometimes you can be completely overrun because of other parts of the team not functioning through no fault of your own.

As many have said, his tactical , positional awareness and discipline are what need working on.
Midfield is the hardest position to play. Knowing when to go and when to sit, especially if you haven't got a lot of experience around you .
Obviously the more games the lad plays , the more he will grow into the role, which is the same for the other young lads we have, in the squad
