Tim Howard

He is awful, and as a defender you like to have confidence that the man behind you can be called on if needed and also bark out orders to his defenders, Tim Howard does neither.
Howard is not good enough anymore, and everyone knows that. However, it's absurd how many people use him as an excuse for poor defending. How did Howard make Funes give up a peno or Stones not position himself well? Wouldn't you expect the defense to actually try to defend a corner if they didn't think their keeper could save it? Maybe instead of giving the ball up in dangerous positions, they should play safe once in a while.
Just like Howard, our whole defense has not been playing well and is giving up far to many shots.

But in order for that to be true, we would have to be giving up an unusually high number of shots on target that are weak and go right at him. That isn't the case in my observation, and I can't think of any earthly reason it would be the case. Don't you think it's more likely that a lot of Everton supporters have an axe to grind with Howard after his admittedly terrible performances last season, and so are only seeing the negatives now?

Again, I doubt anyone here has been able to watch every Premier League match played by every club, so the only way to actually compare Howard to the rest of the keepers in the league is by looking at the overall numbers and trying to find the pattern in them. There isn't any way to twist those numbers to make Howard anything worse than an average keeper overall this season. If anyone on this forum has actually been able to watch all 170 Premier League matches that have been played this season (or even a majority of them) and could say that Howard is truly that bad relative to all of the other keepers, then I will shut up about it. Until then, stop telling me to judge him based purely on what you see, because you haven't seen everyone else.

I watched every keeper that we've played against of 90 mins. Howard has easily cost us more goals than opposition goalies have costs us. The only keeper I would less confident with based on what I have seen is Villa keepers.

Would it be rude to start throwing rotten fruit at him?!

The guy is terrible. Fingers crossed Robles plays brilliantly in the cup and allows us to ditch Howard.

If Naismith's hat trick against Chelsea had been against Howard you'd have expected him to save all three goals.

Begovic was terrible in that game.

I honestly think you need to go back and rewatch some of the keeping without blue tinted specs...

Over half the goals we've scored this year, many on this board would have blamed Howard for. However, since we're the ones scoring, they're just considered good goals, and the opposition keeper is never questioned. 100% agree with this statement.

I'm sorry but Begovic was Chelsea's best player in that game. He made a string of saves including a world class one from a Kone header. He hasn't been good this season overall, but that has absolutely no bearing whatsoever on how utterly dismal Tim Howard has been for the past 4 years and counting

All three goals he let in were awful.
