13/14 was arguably his best.

Not disagreeing with 12/13 or 14/15.

I'll always contest that, it's a myth. As a team it was our best season for a long, long time, therefore Howard's errors are forgotten. He was far better in 07/08 and 08/09 (his best years IMO) than he was that season. I could still compile a catalogue of cock-ups from the 13/14 season

Meh...he had a good season.

I do agree his best were his first few here though.

He was slated then too. Never been accepted by a large portion of this fan base.

I can't remember him being slated in his early years when he was good, unless people held a grudge after his mistake in the FA Cup final. I've slated him because he's been so awful for so long, and still seems to think he has a divine right to be in the side every week, judging by his comments recently. I acknowledge he was once a good goalkeeper, but he isn't now and hasn't been for years

Think this is the only part of your post that could be deemed inaccurate, as he's been poor for the best part of about 4 years now. The 12/13 season was his worst for us in my opinion in terms of mistakes and general clownish behaviour, closely followed by last season

Don't disagree with you, mate. I was trying my best to be lenient. Nearly drew blood from biting my lip in doing so!

Me saying that he's only been poor for the past 18 months is the nearest I can get to complimenting him.

No Doug their Tims his gloves are not on there as they have not been used enough yet this season, and they have a blind spot catching crosses!
They are really old like him -

Howard was an excellent shot stopper in his early days - his command of his area has never been there or United would not have sold him to us with a few other rejects!

When was the last time we had a good backup? Jan Mucha was good in spurts but wasnt 'good'. Fn Arsenal had THREE goalkeepers at once I would consider good enough to be our starter at one point in the last few years.

TBF Mucha , and Robles have or were never given a run in the team I remember Mucha performance at home v City - Outstanding = dropped for T Howard a regular theme occurring here!
Butland overlooked for a mere 3 million????????????

never felt comfortable taking in their rejects, still not convinced any of them really pushed us on.

It's not gonna happen this transfer window, but surely a world-class keep has to be our number 1 priority in the summer.
