Tim Howard

It's not how it works Mike because that wouldn't and doesn't make sense. 5 is the middle point of 10, if it wasn't and 6 was the middle mark it would be out of 12 and not 10.

Have you been doing it wrong for years? I'd have credited you with more sense than getting a very simple thing like this wrong Mike.

5 or 6 out of 10 is not good enough for Everton regardless of what society constitutes as average. People can argue whether Howard is an average keeper or not but what is clear is that his standard is not good enough for where we want to be.

Are you arguing over whether Tim Howard is mean, median or mode?

If a goalkeeper had a 50% saves to shots percentage over the course of a season, would you consider that average?

This mental strength of Howard is why he is our number one, he is defending himself and questioning his critics.

Last season should have been the perfect time for Robles to come out in the press and say he was ready to be number one, but nothing from him. He is happy to live in Howard's shadow as he has never been a number one keeper.

Pretty disgraceful attitude from Robles, and one not needed in our club in my humble view.

You'd have to compare it to his contempories stats I suppose.

For instance I know Lukaku is currently the 7th most clinical striker in the league but his conversion rate is about 37.4% which indicates he's missing a lot more than he scores.

I get it Howard is using his mental strength by meditating when crosses come in by closing his eyes?

Think he learned that technique from legendary fighter Frank Dux. If you have seen the real life documentary "Bloodsport" of Frank's fights in the kumite, a rival blinds him by throwing a mysterious powder in his face. He uses his mind to focus and was able to still win the final.

Dedication and top stuff from Howard.

With such an inexperienced defense this season we need Howard in goal . I do believe this will be his last season as number one , his form has not been to bad this season , the Arsenal game was not his best day , but overall he has done a decent job.

Can he ask that boxer guy how to catch or punch a ball properly also!

The inexperienced defence has had two internationals at it heart - the goals against us has not altered that much - TH goalkeeping of his six yard box has been Hampshire to say the least - I was a centre half in my youth , and you need the keeper to dominate his six yard box - Our keeper fails to do it!

I'm not really sure why Howard has received so much anger from some supporters. They treat him far worse than anyone who's ever played for Liverpool. He's had many good years at Everton, followed by a really poor season last year. He's been both good and bad at times this season.

Could we use an upgrade at the position? Absolutely. Is Robles the answer? It doesn't really seem so. Howard is our #1 at this time. It doesn't make sense for supporters to yell obscenities at him in the middle of a close match where Howard is actually performing well. I don't know how they think that's helping. Players have bad years all the time but the anger Howard gets just seems way out of proportion. It feels like Howard's biggest crime is that he isn't prostrating himself and begging for supporter's forgiveness. The problem is, confidence and arrogance in one's own abilities is a common trait of many top athletes. It's probably a good thing that the nasty things supporters are saying to Howard are rolling off his back. Many people would crumble under these types of vicious attacks.

Personally, I've been disappointed with many of Howard's performances during the past year but I try to look at each match from an impartial viewpoint. That certainly doesn't mean I'm defending him. I would love to get a great young keeper in here by summer but Howard is our #1 right now and I continue to hope he has his best season ever.

Because he's been absolute toilet for about 18 months and then comes out spouting absolute nonsense in the press. Being an arrogant, deluded bellend isn't going to win people over.

It's a shame because he was a decent keeper for years but this last year or so has made me genuinely dislike him.
