There is some of that, I don't disagree.

But there is also a certain portion of this fan base who simply don't face the facts that he's had some very good seasons with us.
some very good games.

Even spells of good games. Always at some point throws a 'friendly fire' balls up though. God bless him.

LC and YB are both bad teams though Chelsea certainly is not and my point had more to do with the first 4 months of the season than the past 2.

I am not supporting sticking with Howard. I have now seen enough. I just did not think Joel had done enough to keep Howard out 3 weeks ago. Howard had a 10 year EPL track record that had a poor run of form prior to injury. It would not be unheard of for a player to regain form after 6 weeks away. My being American has nothing to do with this opinion, anymore than your preference for Barkley or Stones has to do with your treatment of them. That's not fair, I can certainly grant a scouser a soft spot for Barkley if they were prone to one. It is my preference for establishing a new "correct diagnosis" before going in and removing the infection rather than just cutting first and making sure it was right later.

I'll admit it's unfair to disregard your opinion because you're also American. Also I only caught your discussion midway through so I.didn't realise you where not supporting sticking with Howard.

The way I see it we need a world class 'man of the match' type goal keeper to win things and get the league success we want. We have not had a keeper llike that since Martyn and Southall before him Howard is a good keeper but I just think he falls short of what is needed. I'm not saying Robles is either. I think you should always look to have one the best keepers in the world. I mean the supreme best. Look at United through the years. It takes one bad game as a keeper and that could be your united career over. Fergusons standards and we know how that turned out. When it comes to keepers our clubs motto should be applied to the letter.

09-10 I thought he was fine. 11/12 poor.

And 12/13 he was terrible first half. Cost us point after point.

Was better after christmas and was excellent last year, but bad again this.

Just age. Lost all consistenty. Can still do it in patches but not week in week out any more.

08-09 he was one of the best in the league. But that was a long time ago, now.

Sadly mate...you are one of the few that are objective on him. I thought 09/10 was the season where he conceded like 50 goals.

Maybe I got the wrong one.

Every keeper has weaknesses and Tim's are getting exposed this season. His positioning as never been good but his athleticism saved him. now he's older its more noticeable. He has been poor this season but to act like he was always poor for us is pretty shortsighted
Tim's weakness has become all aspects of goalkeeping
