Tim Cahill

No one likes a gloater lid.

For the record, it was I who championed Cahill getting dropped first. And I was also first to point out that Yakubu is lazy and would eventually leave us for a payday. I was the only poster on here who knew Fellaini would come good and that Yobo should have have took the transfer to Real Madrid.

Well you are the 4th best sauce mate!

Couldnt our timmy be played in centre mid where his lack of goals is less of an issue?

Hes gotta be better than Sir Points-a-lot

No, because Cahill in central midfield is a horror show.

As a few have said, he should have been dropped many, many months ago. I respect him and am greatly appreciate of all he's done for us - he's been sensational - but I'm afraid age catches up with everyone.

Of course, Moyes can't really see this and is insistent on playing one of his favourites.

I didn't bring it up, like.

But that said, I remember getting a lot of stick at the time so it bloody well should be brought up!

Can't be arsed to bring up who it was, but indeed I was told I was "an idiot" for thinking we should be dropping Cahill. I know plenty of others thought that as well, I'm not pretending I was somehow on my own in that belief. He's the sort of player who is holding us back; he simply no longer delivers enough to warrant being picked every week. And yes, I think he's been class for us over many years.

Too right lid. Goat doubted you, make sure you abuse him for this.

Well, I didn't imagine I'd ever be writing this. Seriously.

But it's time for him to have an extended rest. He needs to be dropped in favor of Vellios/Straq/Barkley/McAleny/Drenthe, etc....

I doubt Moyes will see that today but I guarantee all the supporters have.

Still an Everton legend though. That will never change.

I love him dearly, but he was thoroughly ineffective Saturday. And when he came off, we looked like a different side. We need to stop building around him. He causes problems in our formation that are conquerable when he's not there.

Let him rest, see if he gets back into form. He'd be great as a super sub right now in certain situations.

I wouldn't say he's finished but he should be benched along with the 4-4-1-1 formation. It's outdated as is our legend Tim. Him and saha absolutely ruin each other! It doesn't work one bit.

The main problem is Cahill is occupying the possistion on the pitch of a modern day ACM playmaker. (ramsy, auguro,Rooney, vdv, ect. Him being there is at the cost of a Barkley style player playing there. When Cahill came back injured we adopted a more 4-2-3-1 with ossie the ACM and played our best footy of the season.

As for playing CM I believe he could play there now as a squad player. If rodders or Fellani are injured or late in a game he could come on and battle away in that possistion. Is Neville a better option? I don't think so!

Saha is also suffering being part of this twosome up front in the 4-4-1-1. If moyes really insists on sticking with 4-4-1-1 Saha should be the one dropping off accompanied by vellios or a proper striker who is going to run the channels make movement ect.

He's not finished, still a legend but needs to be adjusted occordinally with his age and modern footy to be a useful squad player for his last couple of years. Saha also needs to become a squad player but we need to sign someone worthy of his place first. We haven't got anything better at the mo!

We need to switch to a modern day 4-2-3-1 that all europe's most successful use and use the right players in it... Which we have! As well as brin in a couple.

The CB are fine we have 3 good ones
We then have wingbacks in Baines and Coleman
The 2 CM pivots we have in Fellani and Rodwell. As I have said when needed I would play Cahill here.
Now this is where moyes needs to tweak and be more adventurous...
The wingers/attaking wide players. We have drenthe Donovan guaye anichebe(sorry) even Saha .. And yes the have a job to do defensively when under pressure but more importantly have get forward support the loan striker and contribute goals. (ie nani/young, bale/Lennon, wallcott/gerviniho, sturridge/matta.
The ACM needs to be everything Cahill is NOT creative, scores goals runs matches talisman. We have Barkley who is perfect to be our supperstar there. Maybe nit ready quite yet in which case ossie for now, pienaar loan? Sign someone!?
Finally the lone striker.. We need to buy one simples. We have Saha and anichebe really and then the young guys. If everything else is working and set up right Saha can do a job there but it's not his position really. Age and injuries define him as a very useful squad player really. So let's sign somenone pacifically for that role who scores, works hard and brings others into the game!
